Early experience
In 1954, Mr. Lin Jingshan, the successor of seven star mantis boxing, learned the authentic mantis boxing.
In 1958, when participating in the national, provincial and municipal martial arts competitions, he broke through three hurdles in succession, and was recruited by Shandong Institute of sports technology with excellent moral and technical achievements, becoming a national official martial arts athlete. In the same year, he participated in major competitions held in East China and the whole country on behalf of Shandong martial arts team, and won the champion of fencing, cudgel, mantis and all-round for many times.
In 1960, the Chinese martial arts delegation was formed twice in China. Yu Hai visited Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union with the delegation. At the end of the year, he also visited Myanmar with Premier Zhou Enlai and Foreign Minister Chen Yi.
Since 1964, he has been the coach and captain of Chinese Wushu delegation for many times, and has visited more than 30 countries such as the United States, France and Turkey. He has made due contributions to the mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and the people of other countries.
In 1966, he was appointed as the captain and head coach of Shandong wushu team, leading Shandong wushu team to set an advanced precedent in the country.
Acting experience
In 1982, Yu Hai and martial arts star Jet Li filmed Shaolin Temple, a martial arts film directed by Zhang Xinyan. In the film, Yu Hai played master and acted as the martial arts director of the film. With the image of strict teacher and loving father in the film, it won the love of the audience.
In 1986, he played the role of master in the film "south and North Shaolin" directed by Liu Jialiang. In 1990, he starred in the ancient costume film Tongtian elder directed by Yao Shoukang, in which he played Tongtian elder. In December 2001, Yu Hai and his son Yu Tao set up the first "Yu's Wushu Culture Exchange Center" in Weihai, Shandong Province, China, which is the only "Yu Hai Mantis training base" in China.
In 2006, Yu Hai played the role of Guai Wuye in the military theme movie "tiger dominates the dragon". In 2012, he cooperated with Hong Kong movie star Zheng Jiaying to play in the historical TV series "IP MAN" directed by fan Xiaotian and played Dong Zhanpeng in the play.
