Character events
On September 29, 2009, the Ministry of education and the Ministry of Health jointly held the "60th anniversary of National Day" results conference. According to the number of papers in Chinese universities, hao ping said that "since 2004, China's scientific research capacity has been ranked fifth in the world." (the top four are the United States, Britain, Germany and Japan).
At the 192nd session of the Executive Board of UNESCO held in Paris on October 2, 2013, hao ping, Vice Minister of Chinese Ministry of education and director of the National Committee of UNESCO, was unanimously elected as the only candidate for the president of the 37th session of the general conference of UNESCO. This is the first time in the history of the organization that a member of the Executive Board of China has been qualified as a candidate for the president of the general assembly.
On November 5, 2013, hao ping, Vice Minister of China's Ministry of education, director of China's National Commission for UNESCO and executive member of UNESCO, was elected president of the 37th UNESCO General Conference for a term of two years. This is the first time in the history of the organization that a Chinese representative has been elected president of the general assembly.
At the beginning of taking office, hao ping, together with the new leading group, gave up the rest time of the whole summer vacation and visited various departments of the school to carry out in-depth investigation and research. Under the background of economic globalization and internationalization of higher education, the development of Beiwai is facing increasingly fierce competition.
Hao ping said frankly: "there are two problems on the road of Beiwai's development, one is construction funds, the other is development space. In the past 10 years, Beiwai has received only 70 million yuan of state funding each year. Beiwai is located in the downtown area with a campus area of less than 500 mu. The school buildings are relatively old and there are still some dangerous buildings. In the early 1980s, the construction of the Third Ring Road in Beijing required passing through Beiwai campus. At that time, Beiwai took the overall situation into consideration, accepted the plan unconditionally, and made its own contribution to the development of the city. To this day, Beiwai is also divided into two parts, the east courtyard and the West courtyard, by the winding Third Ring Road
At the first school cadre meeting after taking office, hao ping put forward: without scientific planning, there will be no healthy development of the school in the future. Making the planning of Beiwai, especially the campus planning, became the top priority of the school work at that time. After full argumentation and extensive listening to opinions, the 11th Five Year Plan of Beiwai was completed. In terms of campus construction, the University proposes to completely change the old and backward school running conditions within five years, and build a "garden style" university campus with reasonable layout, complete facilities, beautiful environment and the integration of traditional heritage and modern atmosphere.
Soon after, Beiwai campus construction planning committee was established, and China Architectural Design Institute was entrusted to complete the overall campus planning. The whole design is presided over by the architect Mr. Cui Kai. According to Cui Kai's idea, Beiwai in the future will be a campus integrating the connotation of traditional Chinese culture and modern western architectural style. On the basis of maintaining the existing Chinese classical architectural style, Dongyuan will strengthen vegetation greening and environmental improvement, and build a high-level university gymnasium. Xiyuan will build a modern teaching and research building in accordance with the style and tone of FLTRP (one of the top ten buildings in Beijing in the 1990s). When Mr. Cui Kai explained his planning ideas and ideas to all the cadres of the school with a slide, there were warm applause from time to time.
After the sand table was made into a blueprint for the whole campus, it was made by the staff. Many students enthusiastically signed up to be volunteers to introduce the beautiful new campus to the whole school. Teachers and students around the campus planning sand table to give advice, a time to become a unique landscape in the campus.
For hao ping, after the planning of Beiwai campus has come to an end, he and his colleagues are still faced with a major event: planning and integration of Beiwai disciplines. When studying in the History Department of Peking University, hao ping specialized in world history. In his mind, he had a very clear map of the world. According to the geographical location, customs and culture of each country, and combined with the characteristics of various languages in Beiwai, hao ping planned the layout of language disciplines in Beiwai in the future.
The Department of European languages and the Department of Asian and African languages both cover many languages, which has caused great difficulties in teaching management and discipline development. Hao ping and the school's leading group clearly realized that in order to cope with the fierce competition and challenges, Beiwai must make scientific planning and reasonable layout of various disciplines, highlight its advantages, and become bigger and stronger. In the future, Beiwai will set up colleges and departments with outstanding regional characteristics, such as Southeast Asia College, South Asia and West Asia and Africa college, Eastern Europe college and Germanic college. In addition to strengthening the study of the target country's language as usual, Beiwai will also highlight the research on the history, politics, economy and culture of the target country, so as to provide intellectual support for the development of the country.
In hao ping's view, in the era of globalization and knowledge economy, it is impossible to cultivate high-quality foreign language talents for national rejuvenation only by language teaching. To accomplish this mission, we should not only lay a solid foundation of foreign language, but also focus on Regional Teaching and research. Nowadays, the national foreign language training market is very hot, but the share of Beiwai is not big. After the establishment of some foreign language training institutions, they have developed rapidly, and many of them are teachers and graduates of Beiwai. This point can not be ignored by Beiwai people. How to stand out in the fierce market competition? This is a question that hao ping and the new leadership of Beiwai are pondering.
The school proposes to integrate school resources, highlight comparative advantages, and actively build Beiwai brand. On the basis of FLTRP, Institute of continuing education, online education institute, training institute, affiliated foreign language school and international exchange center, Tongwen Education Development Center was established. The name of this new institution as Tongwen Education Development Center implies the tradition of the Tongwen Library in Beijing, which was established in 1862, and expresses the ambition of the foreigners in the north to make their career bigger and stronger and contribute to the rejuvenation of the nation.
"Tongwen education development center will strive to become a leader in the same industry in the next 10 to 15 years." This is hao ping's encouragement to himself and his colleagues in Beiwai. Hao ping has worked in foreign affairs for many years in Peking University, and has forged deep friendship with many foreign university presidents. When he came to Beiwai to take up his new post
