Acting experience

In 1953, Zhang Xiaoyan started her career at the age of five and became a basic actor in Taiwan TV company. Since then, she has entered Taiwan's performing arts circle. Although they share the same surname Zhang, they are related by the collateral blood of their mother rather than by the Zhang family of their father. Therefore, Zhang Ailing is the great granddaughter of Li Hongzhang, Minister of Beiyang, but Zhang Xiaoyan has nothing to do with Li Hongzhang.

In 1980, Zhang Xiaoyan married Bei Zhenkun. In 1981, Zhang Xiaoyan gave birth to her daughter Bei Yinong. In 1986, Zhang Xiaoyan divorced Bei Zhenkun. In 1990, Zhang Xiaoyan married Peng Guohua. Her husband Peng Guohua died in 2001.
