Gu Kenfu

Gu Kenfu was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province in the 1890s. He is a filmmaker and has been involved in directing, writing and interpreting many films.

Life figures

Graduated from Jiangsu Dongwu No.2 Middle School. In his early years, he studied law, established a law firm and carried out lawyer's business. In 1921, he joined the China Film Research Society and played the role of an old woman in the film Yan Ruisheng. In 1922, he cooperated with Lu Jie to establish China's earliest film magazine, film magazine. At the same time in the star film company to participate in the set management and editing. In 1923, Greater China film company was founded (merged with lily film company the next year and renamed Greater China Lily film company), and greater China Film School was established. In 1924, he directed the film people. In 1926, he co founded the fair film company with his friends, and edited and directed the door to fair. Later, he was the director of China film company, shooting such films as "poor parents all over the world". In 1928, he participated in the drafting of Shanghai film inspection regulations. In 1929, he served as a consultant to the national government's Drama Film Censorship Committee. China Film Education Association was founded in 1932.

Main contributions

In May 1924, film magazine was first published by Gu Kenfu, Cheng Bugao and Zhu qianju (the 10th issue was edited by Li Huailin and the 13th issue by Cai Xiaobai), and published by Chen she,. The aim of the magazine is to foster Chinese film industry and introduce foreign advanced experience. There are such columns as "Art Forum", "film review", "new film script", "famous filmmaker's history", "news of the film industry" and "analysis of doubts". In the autumn of 1925, there were 13 issues.
