Ren Pengnian
Ren Pengnian (1894-1968), a native of Shanghai, worked in the activity Film Department of the commercial press in 1918. In 1921, he directed Yan Ruisheng, China's first minister feature film. In 1926, he broke away from business and started his own Oriental film company. Later, he changed his name to Yueming film company. The 13 episodes of "the great swordsman of Kanto" directed by him is well-known in the film world. Most of Ren Pengnian's martial arts films are starred by nvxia. Wu Lizhu, his wife who is proficient in martial arts, plays the role of nvxia. Ren Pengnian became China's first generation martial arts film director, and Wu Lizhu became China's first generation female martial arts film star.
Life figures
Ren Pengnian (1894-1968.2.23), director, Shanghai native. Graduated from Shanghai Yinghua library. He joined the Shanghai Commercial Press at the age of 16 and has been working in its active film department since 1918. In 1919, he directed the short film die gamble. In 1921, he directed the feature film Yan Ruisheng for China film research society. He founded the Oriental film company in 1926 and made the film "the wife of the worker" in the same year. In 1928, he changed his name to Yueming film company, and became the first generation of martial arts film director in China for his 13 episode martial arts film "the great Xia of Guandong". In 1935, he directed the Anti Japanese audio film "Hun Kuang", and later directed martial arts films such as "female escort". In 1960, Yueming film company was reorganized to make films such as "three secret female detectives" and "Feixia Huang Ying skillfully solving the diamond case". In 1963, he directed the film "female tiger in Beijing" and quit the film industry.
