Lu Yang

Lu Yang

Lu Yang, born in December 1965. Professor, Department of history and research center of ancient Chinese history, Peking University.

He is a 1984 undergraduate student of fanpali language in Peking University, under the guidance of Mr. Ji Xianlin. Later, he studied under Ernst steinkellner at the University of Vienna, Austria. Finally, he got a doctorate in history from Princeton University and studied with duchess（ DenisC.Twitchett ）Yu Yingshi. After graduation, he taught at Princeton University, Harvard University and the University of Kansas. In 2011, he was employed as a researcher in the research center of middle ancient history of Peking University.

From September 1984 to October 1987, he studied in Department of Oriental linguistics, Peking University, majoring in Sanskrit and Balinese. from October 1987 to April 1990, he studied in the Department of Tibetan studies and Buddhist teaching and research at the University of Vienna. from September 1991 to August 1996, he studied in the Department of East Asian Studies at Princeton University. He received his doctorate in January 1999. lecturer, Department of East Asian Studies, Princeton University from September 1996 to July 1999. from August 1999 to July 2006, assistant professor, Department of East Asian Studies, Princeton University. from August 2006 to July 2007, visiting professor, Department of East Asian Languages and civilizations, Harvard University. from August 2007 to June 2011, assistant professor, Department of history, University of Kansas. from June 2011 to 2015, he was a researcher of Department of history and research center of ancient Chinese history of Peking University. 2016 - Professor, Department of history and research center of ancient Chinese history, Peking University. position: 1. Adjunct professor, School of history, Renmin University of China. 2. Editorial board member of Chinese literature and history, Tang studies, Chinese Academy and Tang history.

The history of Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties, the cultural history of Chinese medieval Buddhism, and the theory of modern historiography
