Behind the scenes
This is the first time that an American film distribution company has invested in Korean films.
The film has been shot in Dalian, Yanbian, Harbin, Qiqihar and other places in China.
The film started shooting as early as the end of 2009, but the progress was affected by the abnormal climate, and the release date was postponed from the summer of 2010 to the end of the year.
A total of 150 participants, 13 cameras, 50 motor vehicles and 20 buses were mobilized. The shooting was strongly supported by the Pusan imaging Committee and traffic control was implemented within a radius of 3 km of the city center.
He Zhengyu's self destructed image is so different from that of the former model man that no one recognized him when he was shooting at the South Gate of Seoul.
Luo Hongzhen said that he hopes to make the film as a big production with strong masculinity as the godfather.
The Korean man he Zhengyu plays in the film has a real prototype, and his wife still lives in Yanji, China.
The leading actors Jin Yunshi and he Zhengyu practiced Yanbian dialect and mahjong for three months.
Before the movie started, Luohong town made a backpacking trip in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture for a month and made a field trip.
In order to better portray the characters, he Zhengyu didn't cut his hair, store his beard and lose weight during the 300 day shooting period. On the contrary, Jin Yunshi, another leading actor, gained 8kg quickly in a short time to meet the needs of the role.

Film evaluation
Compared with the pursuer, the Yellow Sea has more realistic connotation, even with a distinctive documentary style. Behind those violent images is the director's reflection on his own nation. The film's strong realistic style and facing the torture of life are impressive. (online review of Chinese Writers) the plot of the film is full of ups and downs, the rhythm is compact and not messy, the violence scene of the knife and blood, and the scene of "pursuit + rollover" shot by 13 cameras from multiple angles, which is very popular. (Southern Metropolis Daily) Jin Yunshi and he Zhengyu's rival plays are quite intense. (naver online review) however, the performance of the special group of "Chinese Korean people in South Korea" in the film is not positive. Although they belong to the same nationality as the Korean people, they are difficult to be accepted by the mainstream society in South Korea, and become the pronoun of "barbarism and vulgarity".
