Born on New Year's day in 1968, Davao Suk's childhood dream is to be a forward who can attack the city and pull out the stronghold. In order to realize this dream, he walks 5 kilometers every day to see the osiek team training. By chance, he was favored by the coach and soon moved to Dinamo Zagreb. Then Sevilla changed him with a big box of banknotes. Since then, his life has changed completely.
Sports career
Davo Suk was born on January 1, 1968 in osczechoslovakia, Croatia. His mother was a famous basketball player, and his uncle and sister were famous volleyball players in former Yugoslavia. The influence of the sports family made Suk show his talent in sports from an early age. Under the influence of the good football environment in former Yugoslavia, Suk has made his mark in the first division since he was 19 years old.
Suk joined his hometown club in 1984 and began his career as a player. In 1987, on behalf of the youth of the former Yugoslavia, he participated in the World Youth Championship under 20 held in Chile. He scored six goals in six games and made great contributions to the team's winning the championship. After returning home, Suk officially joined the Auschwitz team and scored 18 goals in 26 matches, becoming the team's best shooter at one stroke. Soon, Suk was the famous Dinamo Zagreb team, became the absolute main force of the team. In 1989, he moved to dynamo Zagreb. After making his debut in the Yugoslavian Football League, he shot to fame against the Romanian National Team in 1990. In 1991, before the outbreak of the civil war in Yugoslavia, Suk played for the national team of Yugoslavia in two games, in which he scored the first international goal. In 1991, the former Yugoslavia was on the verge of civil war, and Zagreb, as the capital of Croatia, was in turmoil. The Croatian Football Association has announced it will not play in the former Yugoslavia League. At this time, Suk, a little-known player, came to Sevilla through his agent. In the same year, Suk moved to Sevilla.
In 1992, after the independence of Croatia, Suk became a member of the Croatian national team. The 1992-1993 season was Suk's first year of glory. The outstanding Croatian star caused a sensation as soon as he appeared, with five goals in two games. This season, he played 33 games for Sevilla and scored 13 goals, making him the team's best shooter. To some extent, his talent even obscures the brilliance of the superstar Maradona. Later, Suk was still very happy that he played with Maradona. Of course, he was the only Croat who played with Maradona. He said: "I only stepped into football when he was in the limelight at the 1986 World Cup. I never thought of the chance to be his teammate Suk also had a good performance in the Croatian national team.
In June 1992, FIFA agreed that Croatia could play at home. Suk scored a goal in the first game against Ukraine. On October 2 of the same year, he scored two goals against Mexico, one of which was a penalty. That year, he was named "Croatian Footballer of the year.". In 1993, Suk continued to be popular in Seville. He has played 34 league games and scored 24 goals, ranking second in the shooter list (first was Barcelona's Romario). However, due to the poor position of the Sierra Leone team, Suk has never had a chance to show his style in the three European cups. For this reason, he also felt distressed, because his Croatian teammates have participated in the three European Cup competition. In the preliminaries of the 1996 European Football Championship, Suk once again made a brilliant performance, and became the best shooter in the preliminaries with 12 goals. Especially in the away match against Italy, his two wonderful goals made the old strong team Italy bow to the throne and burst out a big surprise.
After winning the title of best shooter in La Liga, Suk scored three goals for Croatia in the 1996 European Cup. In the same year, Suk, who was looking for further development, transferred to Real Madrid. Under the leadership of famous coach Fabio Capello, he successfully won the first division of the Spanish League last season, and finally fulfilled his wish to enter the three major European cups. He contributed 24 goals to the team that year and made the first contribution for the team to win the championship. He helped the team win the Spanish League in 1997 and the Champions League in 1998. His left foot is very powerful, as if a pair of eyes grow behind him. However, Suk said his dream is to help the national team win the world cup.
After this successful season, Suk won the Golden Boot award with six goals in the 1998 World Cup and helped the Croatian team achieve an unprecedented third place result. The goals he scored against Japan and Germany in the 1998 World Cup fully showed his extraordinary football talent. In France, his teammate Boban said: "Suk is a fighter who specializes in the enemy's dead corner. The moment of scoring was really wonderful!" Although he didn't win the world cup, his excellent performance made the Croatian team third in the world cup for the first time. He also won the title of best shooter for scoring six goals. He moved to Arsenal in 1999.
Suk, who left Real Madrid, then went to Arsenal. Arsene Wenger's purpose is obvious - to find a master for Henry, who has the same talent.
In 1999, Suk came to the Premier League's arsenal club, and soon transferred to West Ham United club and Munich 1860 club to play in the three major European football leagues.
After completing the inheritance of the left foot, Suk made a short stay in West Ham and Munich 1860. In the summer of 2003, Suk chose to retire, and the name of "left foot violin" will never leave the world. We can only search for the beautiful left foot chord in our memory.
So far, Suk has scored 46 goals in international competitions, 45 of which belong to the Croatian team, making him the best shooter in the history of the Croatian national team. Suk's goals are mostly left footed, so in the 1996 European Championships, the media praised him for his "flexible left foot can play the violin". In March 2004, Bailey, the FIFA Commissioner, selected 125 great players as his name.
After retirement, Suk opened a "Davo Suk football school" in Zagreb, Croatia.
Davo Suk was elected president of the Croatian Football Association on July 5, 2012.
