Zhang Guifeng

Zhang Guifeng, a performing artist of Yue opera, is the founder of Zhang School of Yue opera. Born in 1922 in Xiaoshan, Zhejiang Province. In 1936, he joined the zhaolongqiao science class in Shengxian county to study art. He was a veteran worker and his masterpiece "Da Jinzhi" and so on. He entered Shanghai Dalai theater in October 1942 and was one of the first participants in the reform of Yueju Opera advocated by Yuan Xuefen. In 1945, he joined Xuesheng troupe led by Yuan Xuefen and fan Ruijuan in Shanghai and joined Dongshan Yueyi troupe led by fan Ruijuan and Fu Quanxiang in 1947. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he successively served as an actor in the experimental Yue Opera Troupe of East China Opera Research Institute and Shanghai Yue opera academy. In 1952, he won the second prize of the first national opera performance. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1962. The singing is vigorous and straight, with both voice and emotion. It is called "character actor" and portrays the characters vividly. He often plays Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai and Da Jinzhi.
