JOY FM
(happy FM), two old friends -- a foreigner and a Chinese woman with a very nice voice are waiting for you there.
I'm Li Ke, r-i-c-k, Rick. This issue of "open weekly" introduces Li Ke from China Radio International. Most of the young people under 30 in China have heard and are familiar with his voice.
One of my friends said: if only Li Ke could take the TOEFL listening test.
Li Ke said: if the Chinese audience doesn't understand what I'm saying, then I'm a failure.
And I said: if not my English level has improved, or Li Ke said too easy to understand.
This is the syllogism about ricko'shea. He is the oldest music DJ in China, but he has been lukewarm, unlike the current Chinese broadcasters who always like to go from behind the scenes to the stage to strive for more comprehensive success.
At 9:00 in the morning, DJ Li Ke accompanies you with emotional voice to start a busy day's work. The carefully selected Chinese songs will relieve you of the boredom of busy work and spend the morning easily.
Ricko'shea is about 40 years old. He is a bit like the cowboy we saw in the movie. His skin color seems to be possessed by people who have been engaged in outdoor work. He is not a celebrity. People feel that he is a little nervous and uneasy. His voice was unusually kind, with a few lines of Chinese in the middle.
He doesn't smoke, he doesn't drink, he doesn't have a family. He is currently writing an autobiography about his nearly 20-year career as a music anchor in China.
Street Art
Most of the announcers in China's Radio and television stations graduated from the Broadcasting College. Li Ke was not a professional. He majored in English literature in University and liked American writers such as Hemingway, Mark Twain, O'Henry and Allan Poe. However, he didn't want to be a literal journalist. At that time, young people in the West (from the late 1960s to the early 1970s) were deeply influenced by anti war ideas and rock music, and began to think about life. Li Ke didn't know what career he would take in the future. What he wanted to understand was: "why am I here?"
Li Ke's family has a sister and a brother. The whole family is very planned, with the exception of Li Ke. Because he always wanted to be different. After graduating from University, he went to Canada to work as a street artist, draw street scenes and sell them to passers-by. Painting and photography have always been his favorite.
Once, Li Ke heard a news on the radio that they wanted to recruit announcers to host music programs. It was a very small but quite good radio station in Florida. Li Ke succeeded in taking the exam. He was 24 years old and had no regular job. By such a chance, Li Ke worked as a DJ of radio music until today.
He mainly broadcast some pop songs. In the 1970s, the most popular singers were Elton John, Whitney Houston, Madonna and the eagles. The United States also became a popular music base. The radio often provides Li Ke with enough music information. "I liked what the audience liked. I wanted to make people happy, not educate them." It was his first official job, but he didn't plan to be a radio director at that time.
Does life need planning?
Li Ke said that he is not a person who is good at making plans. "What's the plan? I don't want to plan everything, I want to experience more. You can only plan what you know. The world is much wider than you know
This affected his attitude towards music. "I can't say which stage of music is good, I can only say that music is constantly changing and there is always good music," he said
In 1982, Li Ke worked as a music host at a radio station in Taipei. Two years later, he went to Hong Kong business radio and FM 104. He stayed in Hong Kong for 11 or 12 years. He created the form of audience on demand songs, which became popular in the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. In 1996, he and female broadcaster Ying Feng produced joy FM program in Shanghai. Since 1997, he has come to Beijing to co host the program with female broadcaster Wang Lu.
Li Ke told reporters that joy FM was originally a cooperative project between China Radio International and a French company. Later, the French withdrew, "it's better. If there are too many people drinking a bowl of soup, it's not so fun." Li Ke also understood that "everyone has a share".
Happy hometown
Li Ke has changed three female partners in JoyFM, the longest of which is Wang Lu, for about three years. When he talks to Wang Lu, he never has to slow down because Wang Lu can understand everything. Her English is excellent. As an announcer, Li Ke hopes that the Chinese audience can understand him, so he speaks slowly and clearly, uses simple words, and likes to use parallelism sentences to give people a buffer of understanding.
Joy FM broadcasts from 9:00 to 11:00 every day, and has been firmly in the leading position in the listening rate of major radio stations in Beijing during this period. The audience will write or e-mail to them. Wang Lu is in charge of Chinese letters and Li Ke is in charge of English letters.
'I live in Beijing and know my audience,' Mr. Li said. He did a small survey. When people were listening to the eagles' Hotel California, he observed their expressions and concluded that many Chinese people like that song.
He mixed the songs of different ages and never chose the music of single style, age and singer. His choice of songs is not based on personal interests. The standard of good songs is "happy". 'no one told me which songs to play, it's not up to the machine or the computer. I want the Chinese audience to listen and be happy with it,' he said. It's all about feeling, "I live in China, I have a good feeling for Chinese people, and I believe my feeling will get better and better.".
Chinese college students have the largest audience of joy FM, and Li Ke also likes to deal with them. In his spare time, he goes to the campus to answer the audience's questions. He said in a magnetic voice: "if you are lonely, you can find a friend in our program; if you have many friends, you can make one more friend here." I think Li Ke's friend is music.
Interviews and hobbies,
Our interview got stuck when we asked "who's your girlfriend?". Li Ke refused to talk about personal issues. He said: "I think people should have imagination and mystery. Even when I do my own program, I never disclose personal things, let alone talk about the relationship with others. I don't think the audience is interested in this. Even in my autobiography, you won't see everything about me. "
"Don't tell me about Julia Roberts' private life. If she has a boyfriend, then OK. If she's married, then I'll go away." Li Ke and his family are reunited in Hawaii. He is used to the Spring Festival instead of Christmas.
I enjoy the friendliness of the Chinese people
Li Ke's exercise tool is "roller skating". He wears these four wheeled shoes to walk in Hutong and Xidan. Because running can make joints and legs tired, roller skating can be lazy. He doesn't like driving. He used to live in Detroit, a famous automobile city in the United States. He would rather take the subway. Foreigners find it hard to live in China, but Li Ke feels very convenient.
Because of laziness, he seldom listens to music at home. His main pastime is watching TV while surfing the Internet. "I also listen to Madonna's new songs, but my starting point is not the same as the ordinary audience. I often go to work right away. Do I think this song is good? Is it suitable for our program? I can't relax when I listen to music. And I've heard too much music at work. "
Like Wang Lu, he doesn't like karaoke very much. "Some people sing too much.".
He likes to listen to others in a quiet environment. Natural voice is his favorite voice after work.
