In 1935, he cooperated with Lei Xifu and made his debut in Beijing auspicious theater. With excellent voice conditions and skilled singing skills, he won the audience's praise and became a popular singer with a "female solution".
In 1936, Beijing Liyan daily held a public vote to elect "four big Tongling", and Zhang Junqiu, Li Shifang, Mao Shilai and song Dezhu were elected (later called "four xiaomingdan"). The press commented on his "appearance, like a fair lady, like plum; singing, with a good throat, like Shang; tone, euphemistic and polyphonic, like Cheng; workmanship, steady and generous, like Xun". His voice is "Jiao, Mei, Cui, Shui", sweet and fresh, high and low at will, stretching freely, the gorgeous of Mei school, the vigorous of Shang school, the gentle of Cheng school, and the graceful of Xun school are well integrated into his performing art style.
Later, Wang Yaoqing was worshipped as a teacher, and Mei Lanfang, Cheng Yanqiu, Shang Xiaoyun, Xun Huisheng, Yan Lanqiu, Zhu Guifang and so on were given guidance. The early performing repertoire is mainly "Jijiang", "Leifeng Pagoda", "yutangchun", "Chunqiu Pei" and so on.
In 1942, he set up his own class. Zhang Junqiu often cooperates with Meng Xiaodong, Wang Youchen, Tan Fuying and Ma Lianliang.
In 1947, he performed in Hong Kong with Ma Lianliang and Yu Zhenfei for several years.
In 1951, he returned to Beijing and formed a Beijing opera troupe with Ma Lianliang, Tan Fuying and Qiu Shengrong. He once performed dragon and Phoenix, Qin Xianglian, Zhao's orphan, number one media, Wangjiang Pavilion and Xixiangji in cooperation.
In 1956, Zhang Junqiu's Beijing Opera Troupe No.3 and Ma Lianliang's Beijing Opera Troupe and Tan Fuying's and Qiu Shengrong's Beijing Opera Troupe No.2 merged to form a powerful Beijing Opera Troupe.
During the cultural revolution, Zhang Junqiu was persecuted. After the cultural revolution, he came back and focused on the teaching of Peking Opera, attracting more students from home and abroad.
In 1986, at the invitation of the leaders of Tianjin municipal government, he presided over the 100 day training of Tianjin Youth Peking Opera Troupe. Later, entrusted by Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, he served as the general artistic consultant of "the essence of Chinese Peking Opera's sound and image matching". Up to his death, he completed 120 Peking Opera's sound and image matching, which made a great contribution to the inheritance of Peking Opera. He is one of the four famous actors in Beijing opera.
On May 27, 1997, Beijing Opera master Zhang Junqiu died.

1938, Wuyin year of the lunar calendar: Shi Huibao's last performance in Shanghai
Shi Huibao, along with Ma Lianliang and Zhang Junqiu, went to Shanghai to perform in the Golden Grand Theater. When he pasted the drama fan biography, he waved a brush on the spot, and the big characters on the gold plaque reappeared on the stage. At that time, Shi Huibao was known as one of the best in Shanghai. After living in Shanghai for nearly a year, he worked as a basic actor in the golden theater. This was his last performance in Shanghai.

From July to August, Yang Baosen performed in Hong Kong for more than two months. Although the period is long, he does not perform every day. On average, he performs two or three times a week. During this period, both Zhang Junqiu and Ma Lianliang were in Hong Kong. Sometimes they performed with Zhang Junqiu, such as "Si Lang Tan Mu", "Er Jin Gong", "Mei Long Zhen" and "stealing soul bell". Yang Baosen's last farewell at the end of September was to cooperate with Zhang Junqiu. Yang Baosen played "Pearl curtain village" first and "stealing soul bell" later. Yang Baosen played "pig Bajie" and Zhang Junqiu played the role of Tang monk (Xiaosheng). Jiang Miaoxiang, Wei Lianfang, Wang quankui, Liu Binkun and Wang Zhenghua were also on the same stage.
During his stay in Hong Kong, he also cooperated with Ma Lianliang, who lived in Hong Kong, to perform fan Zhongyu for Shanghai friends. Because Yang and Ma had their own audiences in Hong Kong, they were both welcomed and equally enjoyed.
