Ning Ying's films have always been about thinking and exploration, as well as literary conception. She has always been good at using characters to grind the marks of the times. The grandparents in "looking for fun", "the father in Police Story" and the daughter in "warm summer" all contain realistic questioning (Beijing Times review).
