Early experience

Bao Fang, formerly known as Bao Jihuan, was born into a wealthy family. He was born in Shexian County, Anhui Province, and his father was a customs officer in Jiangxi Province. After graduating from Nanchang BaiHuaZhou primary school in 1934, Bao Fang entered provincial No.1 middle school and was admitted to the law department of Guangxi University in 1941. In 1942, he entered the Guangxi Provincial Museum of art in Guilin. During the Anti Japanese War, he performed a lot of dramas to publicize the Anti Japanese War, including "Thunderstorm" and "nepotism".

Acting experience

After graduating from the law department in 1947, he went to Hong Kong the following year to perform in Yonghua, Taishan, Yiwen and other companies. Later, he joined the left-wing (pro Communist Party of China) great wall film production company and Phoenix film company as an actor and later became a director. In 1959, he and Chen Jingbo jointly directed "a young girl grows up". After 1963, he independently directed "a false son-in-law riding a dragon", "painted skin", "secret killing order" and other films. His second daughter Bao Qijing announced her retirement on her behalf. Later, he was sent to Shenzhen and Hong Kong for further treatment. In the same year, he won the lifetime achievement award of the Hong Kong Golden Bauhinia Award. In 2000, he won the fifth Golden Bauhinia Award for lifelong achievement in Hong Kong film industry. In 2005, he was elected as one of the 100 outstanding Hong Kong actors in Chinese film industry. on September 22, 2006, he died of lung failure at Ruttonjee hospital, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. He was 84 years old.

Personal life

Bao Fang and his wife Liu Su (stage name) got married during the Anti Japanese War and died in 2000. Mr. and Mrs. Bao Fang have two daughters and a son. Their eldest daughter has retired from the counter service of BOC Hong Kong Branch. Their second daughter, Bao Qijing, is a Hong Kong TV and film actor. Their son-in-law, Fang Ping, is a director and producer of Hong Kong films. Bao Fang's son is photographer Bao Dexi, formerly known as Bao Qiming. He won the best Photography Award of "Hong Kong film gold award" three times for his outstanding performance in "the man who does not take off his socks", "the chivalrous couple of the divine eagle" and "the legend of the white haired witch". With "Crouching Tiger, hidden dragon" won the "Oscar for best photography.".
