Meng Xianchen is from Haiyang City, Shandong Province. In 1960, after graduating from Laiyang No.1 middle school, he was admitted to the Spanish Department of Beijing Institute of foreign languages. After that, he was sent to the University of Havana in Cuba for further study.
He returned to China after three years and worked as a professor of Spanish at Beijing Language and Culture University until he retired. During this period, he went abroad several times, went to Latin America and Spain, or worked or specialized in academic research. The Spanish and Latin American works that have been written and translated include basic Spanish Grammar (published in Taiwan), Mexican novel Santa, Peruvian novel madman maita and Samaranch's Olympic memory.
