Chen Cheng
Chen Cheng, Han nationality, member of the Communist Youth League, is from Banan District, Chongqing. Before he died, he was the Deputy monitor of the seventh class of the third company of an independent battalion in Ganzi military division of Tibet, with the rank of corporal. He has successively completed the field training, Yushu earthquake relief and other major tasks, and won the second class merit once. On December 5, 2010, he died in fighting a fire in Zilong village, Xianshui Town, Daofu county. He was chased as a revolutionary martyr by Sichuan military region. He was only 21 years old.
Characters and deeds
At noon on December 5, 2010, a grassland fire broke out in Daofu County, Ganzi Prefecture. When Chen Cheng and his comrades in arms were dealing with the afterfire, strong wind broke out, causing the fire to intensify. A total of 22 people, including 15 soldiers, 5 masses and 2 forestry workers, were killed. By the time of the press release, the fire had not been completely put out. It is understood that the fire occurred in gawugou, Zilong village, Xianshui Town, Daofu County, about 6km away from Daofu county. After the fire, local troops, armed police, cadres and masses went to put out the fire, and the fire was under control at about 15 o'clock. At 15:10, when clearing up the residual fire, a gust of wind suddenly blew the residual fire, and the soldiers and the masses who put out the fire were trapped in the ditch, resulting in the death of 22 soldiers, 5 masses and 2 forestry workers from a certain division of Ganzi army.
