Zhang Jian
Zhang Zhen, born on October 3, 1963 in Wenchang, Hainan Province, is an expert in marine ecological engineering, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, researcher, doctoral supervisor and director of South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In 1981, Zhang was admitted to the Department of marine biology of Shandong Ocean University. After graduating from the University in 1985, he was admitted to the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and obtained master's and doctor's degrees successively. In 2000, he served as the director of the Key Laboratory of marine drugs of Guangdong Province. In 2009, he served as the director of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2011, he won the science and technology innovation award of He Liang He Li foundation. In 2013, he was elected president of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography Academician of Chinese Academy of engineering; won the first national innovation prize in 2017.
Zhang's main research contents are marine biology, marine medicine and marine biochemical ecology.

In September 1981, Zhang Xun graduated from Wenchang middle school in Hainan Province and entered the Department of marine biology of Shandong Ocean University (renamed as Ocean University of China in 2002). in July 1985, he graduated from university with a bachelor's degree. In September of the same year, he entered the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences to study as a postgraduate in marine biology. in July 1988, he graduated from graduate school and got a master's degree, then he stayed in the Institute to work. In September 1995, he studied for a doctorate in marine biology at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. in 1996, he visited the research and Industry Council of India, and studied in the Institute of pharmaceutical industry of India and the Institute of molecular and cell biology of India. in July 1998, he graduated as a doctoral candidate and was specially approved as a researcher by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in August of the same year. in September 1999, he served as the director of Sanya marine ecosystem national field scientific observation and research station (until March 2007). In November 2000, he served as the director of Guangdong Key Laboratory of marine drugs. In June 2003, he served as assistant director of the Institute of South China Sea oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. in September 2005, he went to the school of pharmacy of the University of Wisconsin to be a senior visiting scholar (until December 2005). in October 2006, he served as deputy director of the Institute of South China Sea oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (until June 2009). In June 2009, he served as director of the Institute of South China Sea oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2011, he won the science and technology innovation award of He Liang He Li foundation. in 2013, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, under the discipline environment and textile engineering department.

Achievements in scientific research
Focusing on the key ecological engineering scientific and technological issues of "spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and functions of tropical marine microbial diversity", Zhang carried out research on the observation, cognition and utilization of microbial diversity, developed the theory of tropical marine ecological engineering, invented key technologies such as microbial promoting ecological restoration, promoted the engineering of tropical marine ecological protection and biological resources utilization, and actively promoted the development of the China Sea The development of strategic emerging industries and marine ecological construction. It has effectively identified 1 new family, 11 new genera, 39 new species and 119 new compounds of marine microorganisms, obtained 1 new drug production approval of national medicine "Zhun", and developed 16 green new products of marine organisms. It is the chief scientist of China's first 973 project of marine microorganisms, namely "the biological and ecological effects of secondary metabolism of marine microorganisms and its biosynthetic mechanism". Centering on the ecological construction project in the South China Sea, Zhang has visited the South China Sea for many times to carry out ecological investigation. He is the chief scientist of the strategic class a leading science and technology project "environmental change in the South China Sea" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the national key research and development program "research and demonstration of ecological construction and ecological Internet of things monitoring technology for typical islands in the South China Sea", focusing on the core science and technology of "ecological security and sustainable development in the South China Sea" He took the lead in the construction demonstration project of the South China Sea ecological Internet of things and the major demonstration and transformation project of the South China Sea ecological construction. by 2014, Zhang has successively won 8 national and provincial science and technology progress awards, including 1 second prize of National Technology Invention Award, 1 second prize of national science and technology progress award, 1 special prize of Hainan science and technology progress award, and the 15th China Patent Excellence Award. By 2014, Zhang has published 239 papers (including more than 200 SCI papers) and 4 monographs.
