1、 Take the truth from the image

On Song Jie's landscape painting
Ding Xuefeng Song Jie loves landscape and is infatuated with landscape. Among his many landscape paintings, his works based on Taihang Mountain and Taihang sketching are particularly prominent. The unique human geography of Taihang has aroused Song Jie's strong interest. He went to Taihang for many times to experience life and get familiar with every plant and tree in Taihang. If a painter wants to draw a good picture, he can't live without life, otherwise he will become a water without source and a tree without roots. Song Jie deeply understands this, so he takes Taihang as an inexhaustible source of creation. Song Jie loved Taihang and became interested in Jing Hao, a painter who lived in seclusion in Honggu of Taihang for a long time in the period of Houliang in the Five Dynasties. After research, he learned that Jing Hao's painting theory "brushwork notes" had a far greater influence on later generations than his landscape works. After repeatedly studying Bi FA Ji, he had a deeper understanding of Jing Hao's "theory of truth" and "six essentials": before Jing Hao, people only knew that mountains and rivers had "spirit", that is, the "spirit" of mountains and rivers. Zong Bing proposed that "we should feel the spirit, and the spirit is beyond reason". Wang Wei put forward the idea of "using a single brush to simulate the state of emptiness". Both of them emphasized the painter's in-depth feeling of the objective nature, that is, he should understand his eyes and mind, and conceive Association. Jing Hao was further promoted to the theory of "picture truth", which required "both temperament and prosperity", "painter, painting, and taking the truth from the image". Truth is the essential feature of the image, and degree is the in-depth observation and appreciation. Only by in-depth taste and speculation can we show the essential feature of the image. Therefore, Song Jie's landscape painting exploration has risen to the height of theory. Song Jie loved Taihang, and preferred the autumn of Taihang. The rocks were more rugged, the forests were more vivid, the water was cold, the mountains were thin, and the autumn wind was rustling. From a new perspective, after thousands of years of rain erosion and weathering, Taihang Mountain has formed a special mountain structure. On the top of the mountain, the exposed rock as hard as iron points straight to the blue sky. The washed soil forms a big slope, and then a layer of rock is exposed, which drags a hillside. This rock, this long slope, can convey a breathtaking emptiness and stillness in the late autumn wild wind. Through this emptiness and stillness, we can see the mountain spirit and internal tension. Isn't this the life state of Taihang? Isn't it the portrayal of the mountain's weather beaten fate? Guan Tong and fan Kuan drew the mountains and rivers in the area of Guan and Shan with the composition of "mountains and rivers, open a picture for thousands of miles". Song Jie took this picture On one side of the Taihang Mountain, a part of the mountain is painted with a thousand hectares of potential. Depicting Dashan's spirit and aura, that is Taihang's "truth", he completed his spiritual sublimation here. Song Jie paid attention to the change of brush and ink in his paintings, adding many modern people's ideas and individual language to the traditional brush and ink formula. Use pen center, side forward, drag pen and reverse pen at the same time. Wipe Yin stains, inhibitive, open and close, all at once. To appreciate Song Jie's landscape in detail, there are not only the ancient Chinese sages' "fishing for the snow on the cold river" but also the contemporary painters' mind of "freeing spirit" and "expressing ambition" on the basis of self-cultivation of personality and subjective emotion. In Song Jie's landscape works, there are not only the structure of Taihang Mountains and rocks, but also the stream flowing wantonly, and the trees with complicated branches and leaves, and even houses, animals, farm tools, and the breath of life. Song Jie wrote the "truth" of Taihang and painted the "Rhyme" of Taihang, seeking the infinite change in the tangible. Song Jie's landscape not only presents dense, vast and vigorous natural objects, but also overflows with the vitality of their absorption and operation. It is Song Jie's inheritance of Li Keran's landscape sketching that makes him consciously incline to the realm of enrichment. In his paintings, it shows the concreteness, richness and reality of the landscape image. With the most abundant means to express unlimited charm, he pursues incisively and vividly, not satisfied with the idea to the pen. The blankness, sparseness and omission in his paintings are all positive factors in his techniques of expression. Chinese landscape painting is a kind of art in which the painter "traces" in the face of natural creation. It is an art in which the painter's individual spirit and emotion are shaped. It is an art in which the painter's personality and cultivation are externalized. The key to the thorough understanding of nature lies in the thorough understanding of the relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism. Song Jie knows this well, and will continue to strive to climb.
