General characteristics
In Qin Wenchen's works, through the surface of his sound structure, people can think of thinking about a series of problems such as art, human nature and even philosophy, but the content of these thinking is always at the edge of concrete and abstract thinking. The colorful timbre and strong multiple rhythms always have a potential cool tone. Opening the music score of Qin Wenchen's works, we can not find the original traces of folk songs, nor the so-called profundity and excitement in previous music works. However, with the spread of national style in his works, nationality has become a simple and profound spiritual symbol in music. After listening to Qin Wenchen's works of "atonality" and "differential sound", it is not easy to associate with composers of modern style. On the contrary, in the complicated sound effects created by his works, it reminds us of the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius in the 20th century. Their music seems to come from the mountains, rivers, lakes or rural fields in nature. Their works are similar in image, but their music language is quite different.
Characteristics of different genres
Orchestral Works
In 2016, Qin Wenchen recorded his orchestral works collection, including guzheng Concerto echo on the other side, Pipa Concerto XingKong, secluded song for 42 musical instruments, and Orchestral Works dialogue with mountains and waters using tapes. These Orchestral Works enrich the visual presentation effect of Chinese Music: as a member of the Mesozoic composers, Qin Wenchen has a special relationship with the previous generation composers (such as Tan Dun, Xu Shuya, Sheng Zongliang, Zhou long, etc.). In contrast, Qin Wenchen also devoted himself to the study of the confluence of Chinese and western music, and developed the richness of orchestral music. In the echo of the other side, the special chord of Guzheng creates a rough color character, which needs to cooperate with other musical instruments in practice, so as to maintain a moderate aesthetic feeling. Echo is essentially different from the works written by Tan Dun and Zhu Xiaogu for guzheng. He uses a lot of contrast motivation in his works, which is similar to Simon stern ander's prelude. Qin Wenchen's treatment of Pipa makes it echo with the scene created by the band in a deep way. Sometimes his voice is integrated with the band in a nearly religious way, and sometimes he participates in it in a dynamic way. Dialogue with mountains and rivers brings better sensory effects, accompanied by sounds related to nature and human activities (the sounds of birds and cicadas are presented in imitation or audio mode). In seeking the corresponding relationship with the staff, these sounds are almost integrated with the silver of the orchestra. This not only reflects the author's respect for nature and life, but also an attempt to organize music instinct, material object and semiotics.
Chamber music
Qin Wenchen's chamber music works do not have the sound momentum of his symphonic works, but they still give people a deep impression. This does not come from the pure sound strength itself, but from the strength of its music
