Behind the scenes
1. In the announcement of the project approval of the film script released by the State Administration of radio, film and television in March, 2012, the name of the film was "a long journey through love", and later renamed "golden age". In fact, the title of the film originated from a sentence written by Xiao Hong to Xiao Jun: "isn't this my golden age?"
2. This film is the re cooperation between Xu Anhua and screenwriter Li Qiang after "aunt's Postmodern Life".
3. Xiao Hong in historical materials looks tall and thin. When Xu Anhua saw Xiao Hong, the first actor he thought of was Tang Wei. She thinks that Tang Wei looks like a young woman with knowledge. Although she looks weak, she has an indescribable stubborn character. Xiao Hong is the same in the eyes of the director.
4. Xu Anhua originally wanted Feng Shaofeng to play Duanmu Hongliang, but she didn't tell Feng Shaofeng. First, she gave him the script to see for himself which character he felt most about. The role of Xiao Jun is Feng Shaofeng's initiative.
5. Hao Lei is a good friend of Li Qiang. She later became Ding Ling in the play. Tian Yuan was recommended to Li Qiang by musician Zhang Yadong. She entered Bai Lang's world. Wang Qianyuan has been close to Li Qiang's play for many times, but now he has finally cooperated in the golden age with the role of Nie Gannu. Among the films that director Xu Anhua likes very much, there is steel piano starring Wang Qianyuan. Zhu Yawen is also the actor that Li Qiang began to pay attention to from the TV series "Chuang Guandong". They also had a chance to cooperate on "to youth". Yuan Quan is the "best friend" of Jiao Gang, the deputy director of the cast. She has made a deep impression on the director and screenwriter because of the play "live". Sha Yi said to himself, "others are invited, but I insist on coming." he said that he especially wanted to play the play and offered himself. Zhang Yi, on the other hand, claimed that his role was "rubbed".
6. According to Xu Anhua, Wang Zhiwen took the initiative to join the cast. When he finished his make-up and opened the door, everyone was stunned! “
7. In order to get along with her "Friends of the Republic of China", Tang Wei also thought of some ways. Wang Qianyuan loves to drink, so Tang Wei drinks with him with his good drinking capacity. To play husband and wife with Zhu Yawen, Tang Wei first takes the initiative to talk to him for three hours. She also invites Zhang Yi, Sha Yi and Zhu Yawen to visit him.
8. Xu Anhua said frankly that all of the actors in this group are worshipped the same way. Several actors are big names. As insiders, it's not easy for them to understand literary films. Everyone took the initiative to ask for lower pay. Together, all the actors received a total of 3.7 million yuan, of which Feng Shaofeng received nothing.
9. In the "golden age" crew, there are some conventions. For example, it is not allowed to get angry and scold people, it is shameful to play fast, and there are both hard and hard.
10. The cold makes every actor's state a little stiff. Tang Wei and Feng Shaofeng are so cold that their noses run. Sometimes Hao Lei is too cold to speak easily. The still photographer Jupiter's glasses are also cracked. The director is so cold that he can't watch the monitor quietly.
11. Sometimes in winter, it's not a matter to wear less clothes. The most difficult thing is that the breath from the actor's mouth suddenly turns into an obvious winter white mist in the air, which immediately makes the season invisible. Sha Yi is the main performer of these plays, he always said: "director, I'm exhaled, another one." Again and again, at last, no one knows how Sha Yi held his breath and said the dialogue without letting the white fog appear in the summer drama in this cold winter.
12. "The feeling of cold and hunger can't be played out." for this kind of experience, Tang Wei often wears thin cotton padded clothes and single shoes and goes out to get cold. Feng Shaofeng called it Tang Wei's unique "masochistic performance method". In order to perform Xiao Hong's hunger and embarrassment, Tang Wei endured not eating, just to be closer to Xiao Hong's state at that time.
13. In order to "get close to" Xiao Jun, Feng Shaofeng also gained weight, dressed himself up sloppy, and drank wine, making himself close to the "blushing Sanlang" who had the characteristics of blushing after drinking in history.
14. Xiao Hong smokes. Yuan Wenkang, who plays Wang Enjia, teaches Tang Wei to smoke on the set. The studio is full of smoke. During the period of the Republic of China, there was no filter. They were all cut tobacco. Tian Yuan himself didn't smoke, but in the group, he smoked and got used to it.

Creative background
Xiao Hong's story has been brewing for 20 years in the heart of director Xu Anhua.
In the early years, she had been looking for screenwriters in Hong Kong to write about Xiao Hong and Ding Ling. The life of the two women writers has their own destiny and literary creation. Basically, they are embedded in the literary history of the Republic of China, which is a kind of flesh and blood relationship. To write such a story, we need not only to consult a large number of historical materials, but also to visit historical sites on the spot. The work involved is complicated and time-consuming. At that time, no Hong Kong screenwriter wanted to write.
In 2003, Xu Anhua met Li Qiang in the mainland. They met for the first time, but they were as good as they were at first sight. During the chat, Xu Anhua said that he always wanted to make a film about a pair of women's stories: Ding Ling and Xiao Hong, female writers of the Republic of China. Li Qiang is very interested in this story.
Both of them were very excited about the little spark collision in creation. They made an appointment to go back to look up historical materials, read books and have another discussion day.
"May not be able to shoot," after a while, when Xu Anhua and Li Qiang met again, Li Qiang said frankly. Xu Anhua knows that because of Ding Ling's complicated political background, it is very difficult for her story to be censored. As a result, the story of the two women writers was shelved.
In 2006, Xu Anhua and Li Qiang cooperated on "aunt's Postmodern Life". Xu Anhua still didn't give up. She said to Li Qiang, "it's better to shoot Xiao Hong's story.". Although Li Qiang is determined to be a screenwriter for Xu Anhua, he and Xu Anhua have no idea whether this literary film about Xiao Hong, a female writer, can be finally made. In the next four or five years, for Xu Anhua and Li Qiang, they entered a long period of investment and script writing.
Li Qiang devoted a lot of time to reading. He and Xu Anhua derived a picture of literati in the Republic of China from Xiao Hong's story. This ambition also required more time and energy from the screenwriters. Li Qiang read almost all the works, biographies, memoirs and other written materials of the left-wing writers in the Republic of China for nearly three years. In the past three years, Li Qiang lived an isolated life. He didn't even turn on his mobile phone to eliminate all external interference. In 2010, Li Qiang handed a play called "a long journey through love" to Xu Anhua, which was later called "the golden age".
The script is very long. Judging from his many years of experience, Xu Anhua thinks that the film may take four to five months to shoot, and many scenes will change. The food, housing and transportation for a group of people alone are already very expensive. In addition, she hopes that the costumes will be elegant and the scenes will be taken in real scenes - so it will cost more than 60 million.
Xu Anhua took the script and walked around Hong Kong. Many bosses told her: "although we like the script very much, it's too artistic. There's no guarantee for the market." Some people also said, "if you are 20 million, I can still consider investing, but 60 million is absolutely impossible." Xu Anhua came back again and again. Finally, Li Qiang found Qin Hong, the boss of Xingmei film company, and convinced him to invest in the film. When he told the good news to Xu Anhua, director Xu was glad, but more of it was an accident.
Of course, a film can be shot, full of all kinds of opportunities, so there are other reasons for Xu Anhua to shoot this film: "why did she shoot it? I think it's not entirely because she said that in such an environment, but also because she has her own extraordinary acumen. At that time, she was very difficult in material, but in the most painful moment, she was able to do it It's an artist's insight to see that he was in a golden age and that he was very happy at that time and that the times were good.
