People's point of view
When Li Xiangting attended an activity in Shaolin Temple, the ancient temple of the millennium, he put forward a view that learning Guqin is the same as learning Arabic numerals such as 1, 2 and 3 for children. If you are interested in it, you can learn it. If you are fascinated, you can learn it well. If you are crazy, you can learn it well. "In the future, we should let every middle school student know guqin, just as we know the Great Wall, Li Bai and Du Fu." Li Xiangting also said that Guqin is not unattainable and unfathomable. It should be said that it is high and accessible and deep and measurable. You can't play, but you have to know, just as you can't write poetry, but you have to know "the bright moon in front of the bed". Just like Buddhism, it's very sacred, but it doesn't want to be intimidating. For the popularity of guqin, Li Xiangting suggested that Guqin DVD should be played in the middle school classroom, so that students can know what Guqin looks like and what sound it makes.
Characters and deeds
Make your own piano
Once upon a time, he heard that the mining club was showing a short film about Guqin player Guan Pinghu's playing skills. He went to the mining area and saw the posture and way of Guqin playing for the first time. He is very eager to have a guqin, but it is difficult to find it in the small town of Liaoyuan. He had no choice but to draw cakes to satisfy his hunger. He stretched a few paper ropes on his father's desk as a piano. While listening to the sound of the piano on the radio, he imitated playing on the paper ropes to comfort his thirst. Later, he bought a book called "the wonders of modern and ancient times" at the old book stand, and saw a detailed description of the image, characteristics and structure of the Guqin in the story of "Yu Boya throwing the Guqin and Xie Zhiyin". He was determined to make the Guqin himself as described in the book.
He found out the wooden signboard used in his father's clinic, changed it into a Qin body, replaced the Qin string with erhu string, and made the Qin emblem with thumbtack. Without a sound box and no pronunciation, he put on his father's stethoscope and listened to the music. Even if he could only hear a faint voice, he was very happy.
Write to the teacher
In 1957, when Li Xiangting was a sophomore in senior high school, in order to acquire knowledge of guqin, he summoned up the courage to write a letter to the famous guqin player Cha Fuxi, telling about his love for guqin, his wish to learn guqin, and the difficulty of making Guqin. He asked for the method of playing Guqin and asked to send one or two Guqin scores. Because he didn't know Mr. Cha's correspondence address, he had to send the letter to the Central People's broadcasting station. After that, he was looking forward to his reply every day. I don't know how many sleepless nights he spent. Finally, he was looking forward to the reply that determined his future and destiny.
Mr. Cha Fuxi, President of Beijing Guqin Research Association, was very moved when he received a letter from Li Xiangting from the radio. He was determined to help this young man become a talent. While replying to the letter of encouragement, Mr. Cha asked him several questions: first, what is the occupation of your parents? Can he afford you to graduate from university? Do you agree to devote yourself to music and art in the future? Second, do you want to learn Guqin just for a hobby, or do you want to learn it well? Third, to learn Guqin well, you must have a certain accomplishment in classical literature and mathematics. Do you also like classical literature and mathematics?
