Su Wei
Su Wei, born in Rizhao, Shandong Province on July 28, 1989, is a Chinese basketball player. He plays as a center and plays for the CBA Guangdong Hongyuan men's basketball team.
Su Wei studied rowing as a child. In 2003, he became a basketball player and joined Guangdong Hongyuan team 2. In 2006, he was promoted to team 1. Later, he won the CBA championship five times with Guangdong Hongyuan. In September 2013, Su Wei transferred to Xinjiang Guanghui men's basketball team. In July 2016, Su Wei transferred to Qingdao double star men's basketball team. In August 2018, Su Wei returned to Guangdong men's basketball team after five years and won the CBA championship with Guangdong team for two consecutive years.
In 2009, Su Wei was selected into the 12 man list of the national team Asian Championship and put on Yao Ming's No. 13 shirt. In 2012, he lost the list of 12 people for the London Olympic Games.
Early experience
As a child, Su Wei was selected to the local junior sports school for kayaking training because of his good physical condition. In 2002, he was favored by Guangdong rowing team. The training base of Guangdong rowing team is a few hours' drive away from Guangzhou. In the remote and desolate Zhuliao Town, the training of Guangdong rowing team is famously hard and boring. After training, Su Wei and his teammates play basketball to relieve their fatigue and vent their depression. A year later, Su Wei grew to 2 meters, and his love for basketball grew with each passing day. In 2003, Su Wei volunteered to come to Guangdong Hongyuan team 2 to become a basketball player. When he first came into contact with basketball, Su Wei was 14 years old. Therefore, he started from scratch and his skills have been relatively rough.
Sports career
CBA period
In 2006, Su Wei was promoted to the Guangdong first team.
In 2006-07 season, Su Wei played 10 games for Guangdong team, averaging 7.3 minutes per game, scoring 3 points and 1.6 rebounds.
In the 2007-08 season, Su Wei played 27 times in the cba30 round, which is shrinking for the Olympic Games, averaging 2.7 points and 2 rebounds in 7.6 minutes.
2008-09 season is a dazzling season in Su Wei's CBA career. In 50 rounds, Su Wei won 42 games, averaging 12 minutes per game and 5.35 points, which is also the highest score in his career. Especially in the finals, Su Wei restricted bater's play with his strong body and became an important member of Guangdong team to win the championship.
The 2010-11 season is Su Wei's peak season in Guangdong. He averaged 23.3 minutes, 9.38 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
In 2011-12 season, in the fourth game of CBA finals, Guangdong lost to Beijing. At the beginning of the competition, the boos of "changing Su Wei" replaced the previous Beijing curse and filled Wukesong stadium. Among 18000 fans in Beijing, Su Wei's performance was even worse. In the off-season of 2013, Su Wei's contract with Guangdong team expired and transferred from Guangdong Hongyuan to Xinjiang Guanghui for a long time. Su Wei averaged 5.82 points in three seasons in Xinjiang. In the 2015-16 season, Su Wei suffered from injuries and his playing time dropped to the lowest 9.6 minutes in his career. He has gradually lost his position in the team.
On July 14, 2016, Qingdao men's basketball team officially announced that Su Wei had joined the team and the two sides signed a three-year contract.
On December 25, 2016, Beijing lost 74-84 to Qingdao in the 21st round of CBA in the 16-17 season. On August 15, 2020, Su Wei got 4 points, 1 assist, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block in the finals, and won the CBA championship with Guangdong team in the 2019-20 season.
National team experience
In 2009, Su Wei was recruited into the second national team by his coach. In the Asian Championship East Asian qualifier, he averaged 13.7 points and 6.75 rebounds, becoming a core inside line of the second national team. In the men's basketball warm-up, Su Wei had a good performance, averaging 6.6 points and grabbing 7.2 rebounds, becoming the backbone of the Chinese team's inside line. After that, he was selected into the 12 member list of the national team Asian Championship and put on Yao Ming's No. 13 shirt.
In the 2010 Turkey world championships, Su Wei was selected into the list of 12 people's Congress, shouldering the important task of defense and rebounding.
On April 8, 2011, Su Wei was selected into the National Men's basketball training list. On September 25, as a substitute for China, he won the Asian championship by beating Jordan.
In 2012 London Olympic Games, Su Wei lost the list.
