Li shuangze
Li shuangze (July 14, 1949 - September 10, 1977), male, born in the Philippines, is a painter, writer, folk singer and composer. He is one of the legends in Modern Taiwan cultural circles. In his early years, under the cultivation of his parents, he entered the Mathematics Department of Tamkang University. In June 1974, a solo exhibition of paintings was held at the Lincoln Center of the American information service in Taipei. From early 1975 to 1976, he visited Spain and the United States.
The poems and music of shuangze's songs show that the mind is open, free and self-confident, which is rare in Taiwan culture. It is different from the common popular songs in that they are pure in appearance or strong in expressing sorrow. His appeal and creation promoted the trend of the New Folk Song Movement, and Tamkang University became an important town of the New Folk Song Movement. His songs include "beautiful island", "Young China" and so on. In addition, his literary works also get quite high artistic evaluation. His novella "compensation for the final battle" won the Wu Zhuoluo literature prize in 1978.

Li shuangze (1949.7.14-1977.9.10) is one of the legendary figures in Modern Taiwan cultural circles. He is a painter, writer, folk singer and composer. 2007 is the 30th anniversary of his death. Tamkang University will hold memorial activities and concerts for him on October 1 and 4.
In June 1974, at the age of 25, he held a solo exhibition of paintings at the Lincoln Center of the American information service in Taipei. From the beginning of 1975 to the middle of 1976, Li shuangze traveled to Spain and the United States to study.
After returning to Taiwan, on December 3, 1976, when he participated in a "Western Folk Song Concert" in Tamkang University, he called for "sing your own songs" and caused a warm response. This is the "Tamkang event" of the new song movement. Since then, he began to write alone or cooperate with friends, and completed nine songs: Heart song, I know, red hair city, old drummer, Yugong moving mountains, beautiful island, young China, our morning, farewell song and so on. While many people were immersed in the joy of his creation, Li shuangze accidentally drowned at the seaside of xinghuadian in Danshui on September 10, 1977. He was only 28 years old.
His appeal and creation promoted the trend of the New Folk Song Movement, and Tamkang University became an important town of the New Folk Song Movement. In addition, his literary works have also received quite high artistic evaluation. The novella "compensation for the final battle" won the Wu Chou Liu literature prize in 1978.
Acting experience
On December 3, 1976, radio DJ Tao Xiaoqing organized a "Western Folk Song Concert" at Danshui University of Arts and Sciences. Li shuangze and Hu Defu were good friends, and Hu Defu was one of the invited singers. As it happens, the night before last, Hu Defu had a hot pot with his girlfriend's family and met a rogue who came to make trouble. Hu Defu had a big fight with the hooligans. The result of the fight was that he was stuck with a chopstick on his back. Due to excessive blood loss, he fell down from the upstairs, and his teeth fell off, his waist hurt, and his face blossomed. Although life is not a big problem, but the next day is certainly not on the stage. Hu had to turn to Li shuangze and let him sing on stage.
"At the beginning of the concert, they were basically singing western music. Li shuangze should be very angry. He complained privately that we had known for a long time." Hu Defu recalled that it was Li shuangze's turn to play. Instead of singing, he held a bottle of Coca Cola and questioned the students: "we drink Coca Cola and listen to these songs in the Philippines; we drink Coca Cola and listen to these songs in Spain; we drink Coca Cola and listen to these songs in the United States. Now, in Taiwan, we still drink Coca Cola and listen to these songs. " Li shuangze smashed Coca Cola to the ground, "do we have our own songs?" The audience was completely stunned. No one thought out what "his own song" was. Li shuangze played the tune of "the memorial song of the father of the nation" -- this is the repertoire of the second page of the Taiwanese primary school textbook.
A large-scale discussion on "singing your own songs" broke out on the campus of Taiwan University. Everyone began to write in secret, and the debate on local areas began. Students began to write their own songs. This is the famous "Coca Cola incident" in the history of Taiwanese folk songs. The era of campus folk songs in Taiwan began from then on.
Personal life
Born in the Philippines in 1949, his ancestral home is Jinjiang, Fujian Province. When I was young, I came to Taiwan with my mother via Hong Kong. His father was an overseas Chinese from the Philippines. Primary school, Guting primary school. 1962

In 1973, he tried to make a heart song. The chorus of Tamkang Architecture Department performed and participated in the competition. Tao Xiaoqing is one of the guest judges of the chorus competition.
He lived by the Shalun lighthouse and painted. The advantage of living here is that you can sing from midnight to dawn every day, and you are not afraid of quarreling with others. In the next few years, shuangze's residence in Danshui, either self rented or borrowed, had this characteristic.
In the summer vacation of 1973, talented women participated in the mountain visiting team of haiduan township. Shuangze works in the enterprise planning department of Xinxin Volkswagen Company. Zhang Jianbang, President of Tamkang, elected the second Taipei city councillor to participate in the corporate planning for the propaganda group of the campaign headquarters.
Sleep in the upper floor of Lixing restaurant outside Shuiyuan street. Due to shuangze's suggestion, the Western folk music concert held by the student activity center was cancelled. According to shuangze, this concert may be the first time that Yang zujun has performed in a large-scale concert. On the way to the stage, she feels that Yang's hand is still shaking, but Yang may not have a definite impression of shuangze at this time.
I often visit Sun Jiayang who lives in the zoo. I met Li Yuanzhen here. According to the description of shuangze and Yuanzhen on the night of their first contact, Yuanzhen's evaluation of him is constantly shouting mamerous.
At the end of 1973, Hu Defu presented folk songs at the International Academy stadium. The performance team is mainly planned by Hu Defu, shuangze and Xu Ruiren.
In the spring of 1974, Hu Defu held another Folk Song Concert. Try to help Hu to compose. On June 13, the first personal painting exhibition of Taipei Meixin office was held.
From 1971 to 1974, he often published many long and short comments in Tamkang weekly, mostly in his own name. Since the middle of this year, I have been working in tomorrow world magazine of Tanjiang publishing department.
He visited Spain in 1975. He lived in gadarenia, Spain, for a year. Make friends with Barker.
