Xu Jie? Xu Jie graduated from the Department of physics of Chengde Normal University in 1956, and was transferred to the men's volleyball team of Liaoning Sports College in the same year (the predecessor of Liaoning men's volleyball team). In the spring of 1957, Xu Jie, as the main setter, participated in the national volleyball league tournament held in Guangzhou on behalf of Liaoning team, which was the first time that Xu Jie appeared in the national volleyball court. In the game, Xu Jie showed a good technical and tactical level, especially a strong offensive level. After the game, Xu Jie was transferred to the national youth team. In 1959, the whole national youth team was promoted to the national team. Together with Xu Jie, a group of players were Deng ruozeng, Ma Lik, Feng Zhenghai, Li Zongyong, Li Yuexian and so on. These players were all elite Chinese volleyball players.
In the early 1960s, Xu Jie became the coach of the second national women's volleyball team and went to Vietnam to coach the National Men's volleyball team in 1969. His work attitude, professional level and professionalism have been highly praised by the Vietnamese volleyball industry. Under his guidance, the technical and tactical level of the Vietnamese men's volleyball team has improved significantly and become a strong team in Southeast Asia.
In 1970, Xu Jie returned to Beijing and was appointed head coach of the second team of the National Women's volleyball team for the need of cultivating reserve talents. During the cultural revolution, it is not easy to set up a second women's volleyball team with neat personnel, technical and tactical literacy and potential. Xu Jie practiced himself and spared no effort to select players from volleyball teams in various provinces and cities. Finally, in December 1970, he formed the second national women's volleyball team. At that time, the players included Qu Peilan, Xu Xiumei, Ge Weiping, Li Changchun, Yu Xia, fan Qing, Tu Weirong, etc. Qu Peilan, Xu Xiumei and Ge Weiping all became members of the National Women's volleyball team. Unfortunately, the second national women's volleyball team was dissolved in August 1972.
From the end of 1972 to 1975, Xu Jie was appointed by the State Sports Commission to return to Liaoning to help guide the work of Liaoning men's and women's volleyball team. He has assisted in guiding Liaoning young men's volleyball team and Liaoning men's volleyball team. Liaoning young men's volleyball team won the National Youth Championship in 1973, Liaoning men's volleyball team won the second place in the third National Games in 1975, and women's volleyball team won the fourth place. In the 1970s, Chinese men's volleyball players Hu Jin, Hou Jie, Zheng Yiming and women's volleyball player Qi Lixia were all members of Xu Jie's training team.
In 1977, Xu Jie led the Chinese young men's volleyball team to win the Asian Youth Championship in Hong Kong, and obtained the qualification to participate in the world youth championship. In August, Xu Jie led the Chinese young men's volleyball team to win the first FIFA World Youth Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The trained players Xu Zhen, Zhang renjiang, Li Xinshan, Xin Peiming have successively entered the National Men's volleyball team. Dong Ruijun, Shi Yongming, Zhang Jiucheng, sun Tong, Liu Wuyi and other players have also become the head coaches of teams in various provinces and cities after retirement.
