Zhu chongmao (1922-2000) is a lyric tenor. He is from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. He held his first solo concert at the age of 20, and then worked in the East China Navy arts and crafts troupe and the Shanghai People's radio broadcasting orchestra. He has successively served as chorus conductor, soloist and art director. In the past 40 years, we should learn from Western European traditional vocal music and form our own singing style. His singing is implicit, delicate and affectionate, his voice is sweet, and his words are clear, especially the control and extension of the weak tone in the high voice area. His lyric songs such as "night on the prairie" and "on a hill like a Golden Vase" have been popular for generations, and have been widely sung by people up to now. He used to be the art director of the chorus of China broadcasting art troupe. He moved to the United States in 1979. In 1984, he led the creation of New York Haiyun chorus. In January 1985, he conducted the Haiyun chorus in Alice Taoli hall, Lincoln Center, New York, and performed the Anti Japanese war epic "Yellow River Chorus" in the United States. Since then, he has been devoted to the introduction and promotion of Chinese chorus art among the American people. He died in New York on October 11, 2000.
