Character experience
During the period of study
Hu Defu was born in 1950 to an Aboriginal family in Dawu Mountain, taimari, Taitung County. He stayed in the tribe of Dawu Mountain until he was 11 years old. Until the age of 11, he left the tribe for the first time and went to Tanjiang middle school. Tanjiang middle school (complete middle school) is a church school with a choir. In order to sing, he joined the choir. Under the care of the principal, he was able to practice the piano in the school piano room. During his study, a Canadian teacher who taught spiritual songs gave him a lot of music materials to listen to.
In 1968, Hu Defu entered the Department of foreign languages of National Taiwan University. As soon as he entered university, he fell in love with English folk songs and western music.
In 1970, because of his father's urgent need for surgery, Hu De Fu dropped out of school to make money. It happened that Wan Shalang, the singer, returned to the singing world after his military service and needed a chorus man to reorganize the band. Hu Defu was recruited to play the electronic organ chorus for WAN Shalang in the band.
Folk Song Movement
(unknown year) after wanshalang became famous, he did not continue to play and sing, and the band was officially disbanded. While working for two jobs, hudev also sang Western songs in the coffee shop of Columbia station, and gradually became famous. Even some TV stations interviewed him.
I met Lee in the 1970s. Li shuangze advised Hu Defu to sing less English songs and more Beinan's own songs. Li shuangze's suggestion made Hu Defu have a new understanding of music. Under the encouragement of Li shuangze, Hu Defu tried to create folk songs such as "the child on the back of the ox" (1974) and "Maple Leaf" (1977). He and his friends Li shuangze and Yang Xian set off an upsurge of local music creation in Taiwan, which had a profound impact on Taiwan and even the whole Chinese music world. This movement was later known as the "Folk Song Movement". The Folk Song Movement laid the foundation for the later popular music in Taiwan, so Hu Defu was called "the father of Taiwan folk songs", and together with Yang Xian and Li shuangze, he was called "the three gentlemen of Folk Song Movement".

Hu Defu and Yang zujun have also become "problem singers" and have been banned.
