Yang Wei
Yang Wei was born in Shanghai in 1960. Director of Shanghai Pipa Association, senior performer of Shanghai National Orchestra. He was the chief Lute Player of Shanghai National Orchestra.
Character experience
Yang Wei has studied folk musical instruments since he was young. He has been specializing in Pipa since he was 13 years old. He has studied with famous teachers such as Chen Hongren, Bi Zhiguang, Xie Jiaguo, Lin Shicheng, Tang Liangxing, sun Yude, Ma Shenglong, Qin pengzhang, Gong Wanli, ye xuran and Liu Dehai. He has won many Pipa awards. For example, in 1980, he won the third prize in the "Shanghai Spring" national Pipa competition; in 1982, he won the excellent performance award in the "national instrumental solo performance"; in 1985, he won the excellent award in the "Shanghai young actors (Opera and instrumental music) performance"; in 1989, he won the first prize in the "art cup Chinese instrumental international competition" of Pipa youth professional group. In October 1990 and November 1992, he held solo concerts in Shanghai and Taipei respectively, which were well received. The tapes and records of his works, such as Yingzhou Gudiao, were circulated at home and abroad. Yang Wei has visited France, Belgium, Singapore and other countries and regions, and has been highly praised at home and abroad.
