Early experience

In the summer of 1966, more than two months after his birth, Wang Xiaoshuai went to Guiyang with his parents from Shanghai. After living in Guiyang for 13 years, he began to learn painting as a child.

In 1979, Wang Xiaoshuai's family moved to Wuhan and lived here for two years.

In 1981, Wang Xiaoshuai came to Beijing and became a student of the middle school attached to the Central Academy of fine arts.

In 1985, Wang Xiaoshuai graduated from the high school attached to Beijing Central Academy of fine arts and was admitted to the director department of Beijing Film Academy.

Acting experience

In 1995, he directed the independent film extreme cold (completed in the Netherlands in 1997), participated in the 1997 Rotterdam Film Festival and won the fabisch international film critic award, and then participated in several film festivals in Canada, Britain and Germany. It was first released in the United States, the Netherlands and other places in this year. The film was rated as the bravest Chinese independent film by the New York Times.

In 1996, he directed the first film in the system "shoulder pole girl", which was approved in 1999 after three years of review and revision. In 1999, the film was officially selected as an eye-catching program of Cannes Film Festival.

On January 10, 2019, the film "forever" directed by Wang Xiaoshuai was shortlisted in the main competition unit of the 69th Berlin International Film Festival. Wang Jingchun and Yongmei won the film king and film queen awards for "forever".

In October 2019, Wang Xiaoshuai filmed the documentary "my lens"; on November 23, Wang Xiaoshuai won the best screenplay award of the 32nd Golden Rooster Award for Chinese film for "everlasting".

Personal life

On April 27, 2015, at the premiere press conference of the movie intruder, Wang Xiaoshuai announced that he and producer Liu Xuan would be married in May. At 6 p.m. on May 22, Wang Xiaoshuai and Liu Xuan held a wedding in Beijing. The wedding was closed to the media and only invited relatives and friends to have a dinner together.
