As one of the most representative dances of the Korean nationality, the dance of Korean clan leader dance is mainly spread in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Jilin Province and other Korean inhabited areas. It was born out of the traditional Korean folk music and dance, and has a history of more than one thousand years. The drum originated from the thin waist drum in India. The thin waist drum was introduced to the Central Plains through the Silk Road, and then to Korea, becoming the main percussion instrument of the Korean people. The korean drum is a two faced drum with different pitches. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, some Korean people moved to China from the Korean Peninsula, and Changqi was also introduced. After a long period of development, it gradually formed a Korean Changqi with Chinese characteristics.
Korean patriarchal drum dance can be performed either collectively or individually. The style of women's long drum dance is elegant, while men's long drum dance is lively and natural. During the performance, the main movements are carrying hands, extending shoulders, and taking the steps of magpie and sparrow. The dancer carries a drum on his shoulder, holds a drum whip in his right hand, and beats while dancing. Drum is not only a dance prop, but also an accompaniment instrument. The whole dance integrates performance, singing and dancing, realizing the high coordination of people, drums and music.
Korean patriarchal dance has distinctive Korean cultural characteristics and occupies a very important position in the history of Korean dance. Its introduction not only enriched the artistic form of Chinese folk dance, but also left a good story for cultural exchanges. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, through the careful adaptation of Korean dancers, long drum dance has injected a new flavor of the times, making this excellent folk art more perfect. At present, with the acceleration of modernization, the Korean clan leader drum dance has fallen into a survival dilemma, and there is no successor. Some difficult folk drum beating skills have been lost, which need to be protected and rescued.
