Brief introduction of making bamboo and hemp horn
Applicant: Qionglai City, Sichuan Province
Making songs is a kind of folk singing form appearing in the process of making labor. It is popular in the handicraft workshops of paper making, oil pressing and cloth dyeing in small and medium-sized towns and villages. The rhythm is distinct and the singing is rich and diverse. It mainly coordinates the action with the calling sound.
Zhuma Haozi is a kind of folk song sung by paper workers when they work. It is mainly spread in Western Sichuan, especially in Lugou of Tongle village, Pingle Town, Qionglai City, Sichuan Province, jinjigou of Jinhua village, Yangwan of Jinhe village and Huatuo village of Jinhe village.
Pingle town was famous for papermaking as early as the Song Dynasty. The whole process of local manual papermaking took about three months. With a long hook in hand, the lead singer handed over the bamboo and hemp to the workers, and sang songs to unify the rhythm of work, leading the crowd from slow to fast. When the work was close to the end, the mood reached a climax and the atmosphere was warm. In the process of playing bamboo and hemp, we often have to sing a variety of songs, sometimes exciting and sometimes soothing, with rich forms and contents. The representative works of Zhuma Haozi include Shanggong Haozi, noon Haozi, and finishing Haozi.
Zhuma chant is a folk labor chant that has been preserved and sung for a long time in Western Sichuan. Its singing is primitive, melodious and full of passion. It can be sung alone or in combination, and its forms are flexible and diverse. For thousands of years, there has been no change in the singing tune of Zhuma Haozi, only the content of the lyrics changes with the changes of social politics, economic conditions and production and lifestyle. Zhuma Haozi has strong local characteristics in Western Sichuan, which vividly reflects the folk customs and local culture in Western Sichuan and shows the charm of ancient Shu culture. It is an important part of traditional national culture and plays a certain role in enriching and activating the cultural life of local people. It can provide valuable materials for the study of folk papermaking technology. With the progress of science and technology, great changes have taken place in the production mode of the paper industry. The development of bamboo and flax horn, which is closely related to the traditional paper production, is stagnant, and the living space is shrinking day by day. At present, there are only three to five people in Pingle town who can sing bamboo and hemp songs completely. In the long run, this distinctive folk music style is bound to die out completely. We must carry out the protection and support work as soon as possible to promote the inheritance and development of bamboo and hemp songs.
