Brief introduction of Uighur Medicine (kuxitai method)
Applicant: Institute of Uygur Medicine of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
Uighur medicine has a long history, distinct regional and ethnic characteristics, unique basic theory and rich clinical experience, and occupies an important position in the treasure house of traditional medicine in China.
"Kuxitai" is literally translated as burning or death in Uyghur, which refers to the method of heating and refining medicine with certain appliances and accessories or ingredients. It is mainly divided into: 1. "Geyikemaiti" mud sealing and closed refining method: this method is also known as "bottling refining method", which refers to the method of putting medicine into the bottle, covering the bottle mouth well, and using red clay, wheat or barley at the mouth and outside of the bottle. 2. "Gelikemaiti" mud package method: it refers to the method of directly wrapping the medicine with "gelikemaiti" mud and heating it with warm fire. This method is mostly used to refine Croton, castor seed, nutmeg, aloe, light powder, etc. 3. Pot refining method: it refers to the method of directly putting the medicine into the pot and heating it with warm fire. This method is mostly used to refine alum, borax, coral, pearl, copper, gypsum, aragonite, sulfur, saltpeter, etc. 4. Fuming refining method: it refers to the method of heating the medicine, generating smoke, and scraping down the solid smoke for standby. The specific methods are as follows: grind the medicine into fine powder, place it in the pot, heat it to yellow, cover it with a bowl, put three layers of salting paper at the contact between the pot and bowl, and seal it with clay mud; fill it with sand until the pot mouth, put two grains of rice at the bottom of the bowl, and press it with two pieces of soil; first heat it with warm fire for 1 hour, and gradually increase the firepower, when the rice at the bottom of the bowl turns yellow, reduce the firepower and continue to use warm water When the rice turns black, stop heating. Remove the sand and clay. Then scrape the powder off the bowl with a knife. This method is mostly used to refine mercury, cinnabar, realgar, etc. 5. Heating dropping distillation method: it refers to the method of dropping distillation of effective components of drugs by heating the drugs in the pot. The specific method is as follows: put the medicine in a bottle with a small hole, align the bottom with the retort, and heat around the bottle to make the medicine dissolve and retort into the retort. This method is mostly used for refining light salt, table salt, sodium hydroxide, etc.
Kuxitai method has the following six main functions: 1. Reduce or eliminate the toxicity or side effects of drugs; 2. Change and ease the drug properties and sexual grade; 3. Improve the curative effect; 4. Easy to adjust, prepare and preserve; 5. Ensure the purity of drugs; 6. Easy to take.
Uighur medicine plays an important role in protecting the physical and mental health of people of all ethnic groups with its unique therapy and curative effect, and has made important contributions to the prosperity of people of all ethnic groups.
