Introduction to Dai medicine (sleeping medicine therapy)
Applicant: Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province
Dai medicine is a traditional medicine system based on the Dai People's experience in traditional medicine and the knowledge of Indian classical medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. It takes "four pagodas and five Yun" (earth, water, fire and wind are called "four pagodas"; color, knowledge, reception, thought and action are called "five Yun") and "antidote theory" as the core.
Sleeping medicine therapy is one of the traditional external therapies of Dai medicine, which is mainly used to treat stroke, rheumatism, high fever and syncope. It is divided into cold sleep and hot sleep. Cold sleep therapy for fever, hot sleep therapy for cold disease. Cold sleep therapy is to select the appropriate prescription according to the needs of the patient's condition, collect the fresh Dai medicine, chop and mash it (or use dry medicine), add appropriate amount of medicinal wine and Eclipta juice, mix it well, spread the medicine on the sleeping medicine bed, let the patient sleep on the medicine, and then evenly wrap the rest of the medicine around the body (except the face), and then wrap it with cloth. The first treatment time depends on the patient's condition. It has the functions of clearing fire and detoxification, relieving fever and convulsion, eliminating wind and relieving pain, and protecting organs. It is used to treat febrile diseases, such as high fever, convulsion, delirium, rheumatoid disease, gout, swelling and heat pain of the whole body joint muscle. According to the needs of the disease, the hot sleeping therapy is equipped with the corresponding Dai medicine fresh or dry products, which are put in the pot, added with appropriate amount of water and wine, fried and spread on the sleeping medicine bed. When the temperature is moderate, let the patient sleep on the medicine, then take the remaining medicine to wrap the whole body (except the face), cover the bedding with cloth, about 30 minutes at a time (depending on the Constitution and the disease), so as to make the patient hairy Sweat, in order to achieve the goal of opening pores, activating qi and blood, removing wind toxin and stopping pain, is used to treat rheumatism, stroke hemiplegia sequelae, confinement, senile low back and leg pain, etc.
China's Dai population is 1.16 million, mainly distributed in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and Dehong Dai Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. The theory of "four pagodas and five Yun" in Dai medicine is closely related to Buddhism. Sleeping medicine therapy is in line with the Dai medicine theory and the mass customs. It is rich in resources, convenient to use, and has a wide range of application and promotion value.
