Huaer is a kind of folk song which is widely spread in Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang. It is a kind of folk song which can only be sung outside the village. It is generally called "Yequ" (as opposed to "Jiaqu" (banquet song) and also called "juvenile". Its singing is divided into two main occasions: daily production, life and "Huaer meeting". "Huaer Festival" is a large Folk Song Festival, also known as "singing mountain".
The flower fair of Qutan temple is also a local temple fair, which lasts for three days from June 14 to 16 of the lunar calendar. The flower fair of Qutan temple in Ledu County has a large scale and far-reaching influence in Qinghai. According to textual research, the flower fair of Qutan Temple developed into a certain scale from the temple fair of Qutan temple in Daoguang year of Qing Dynasty to the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. Qutan temple flower festival is the biggest stage for local people to exchange flowers. Many folk flower singers go to the whole province and even the northwest region from here.
The majority of the participants of Huaer Association in Qutan temple are Han nationality, and other nationalities also actively participate. In addition to the local "Nian Bo Ling", there are also "Bai Mudan Ling", "GA ma'er Ling", "Shui Hong Hua Ling", "San Shan Ling" and so on. In addition, the Tibetan people's favorite "Lai" is also widely sung here. Its singing forms include solo, Duel and joint singing, among which the duel of the two camps is the best embodiment of the folk characteristics of Qutan temple flower festival.
