Introduction to cloisonne production technology:
Applicant: Chongwen District, Beijing
Beijing Cloisonne technique, also known as "copper embryo pinching enamel", is also known as "Cloisonne" because it was mature in the period of Jingtai in Ming Dynasty. The technique is to use copper as the tire, flatten the thin copper wire, make various patterns by hand, pinch, weld and stick them on the matrix, then apply enamel and glaze, and finally make the finished product through multiple processes such as firing, polishing and gilding.
Cloisonne technology is a combination of foreign enamel technology and local metal enamel technology. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, both the imperial supervisor and the manufacturing office set up enamel workshops for the royal family in Beijing, and their skills went from mature to brilliant. Since modern times, social unrest, Beijing Cloisonne skills once declined. After 1949, due to the active protection and support policies adopted by the state, this ancient art has been rapidly restored and developed.
Beijing Cloisonne technology is complex and has many processes. It integrates bronze technology and enamel technology, inherits traditional painting and metal carving technology, and reflects the tradition of learning from each other among traditional Chinese crafts. Cloisonne products are elegant in shape, complicated in pattern and rich in color. They have the characteristics of court art. They give people the artistic feeling of "round and solid, golden and brilliant". They have high artistic value. They have participated in many important exhibitions at home and abroad, won honor for the motherland, and are often presented as national gifts to foreign guests.
Under the impact of market economy, due to the bad operation of some practitioners, the artistic quality and skill level of Beijing Cloisonne has declined, and a large number of inferior products flooded the market, which has a bad impact. However, the authentic cloisonne production factories may go bankrupt or be endangered, and there are few skilled cloisonne production masters and successors. If we do not rescue and protect them, this excellent technology will decline or even be lost.
