The legend of King Qian is a folk legend derived from the life story of King Qian Liu of Wu and Yue. Qian Liu, the king of Wu and Yue, was born in Lin'an, Hangzhou. He was the commanding officer of a feudal town in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties. He was born in poverty and started his business by selling salt. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, he dominated Zhejiang Province and pursued the policy of "protecting the territory and pacifying the people, doing good to China, and returning the land to the Song Dynasty". He made Wu and Yue rich in the world and laid the economic foundation for Taihu Lake basin to become a "land of fish and rice" and for Suzhou and Hangzhou to become a "paradise on earth". The legend of King Qian is a household name in his hometown Lin'an, known to all women and children. In almost all the places where King Qian lived, there are legends about him.
