Belonging to Zhangjiagang City of Suzhou, Jingang town is located in the western suburb of Zhangjiagang City. It is the sub center of Zhangjiagang City and an important window of opening to the outside world. The total area of the town is 131.61 square kilometers (2017), under the jurisdiction of 31 administrative villages and 12 communities, 306759 people (2017).
In November 2017, Jingang town was awarded the fifth national civilized village. Evolution of organizational system
In Jingang town, on February 29, 2004, sanjieqiao village was merged into tanshang village; Gaofeng village and Chaoyang village were merged into Changshan village; Gangshang village and Zhenshan village were merged into Shanbei village; Sansheng village and Maqiao village were merged into Bolin village; Xiangshan village was merged into Dongshan village; Qingqiao village was merged into Gangxi village; caochangxiang village was merged into Fengzhuang village; lanmen village was merged into Beiyin village; Defeng village was merged into xiaomingsha village; Changming village was merged into Chaonan village; Tiangang village was merged into Tiangang village Fei village merged into Fumin Village; Chenxi village merged into changdai village; Xincun village and Gaoke village merged into Chenyang village; Dade village and Shanzheng village merged into Zhongde community; Junmin village and Deji community neighborhood committee merged into preschool community; Gaodong village and Zhongwei village merged into Zhongyuan community, Xiangshan community and Yuanfeng community. In 2003, the four towns of gangang District, Nansha, Houcheng and Deji, and the five villages of changdai, Chenxi, Xincun, Gaoke and Chenyang in the former Chenyang town were merged to set up Jingang town, with the town government stationed at No. 28, middle Changjiang Road, Hong Kong District.
Annex 1: Deji town is located in the northwest of Zhangjiagang City, with the Yangtze River in the northwest, 16 kilometers away from the urban area. Deji township was established in 1957 and then changed into commune. It was restored to township in 1983 and changed into town in 1992. In 1997, with an area of 34 square kilometers and a population of 39000, it has jurisdiction over 21 village committees and Deji neighborhood committees, including Duanxi, Taizi, Changming, xiaomingsha, Chaonan, Xintao, Hezi, Deji, Shahong, Xinguang, Tianfei, Fumin, Yongxing, Defeng, Jincheng, Shuangfeng, Xiexing, Beiyin, Fuhai, Junmin and lanmen.
Appendix 2: Houcheng town is located in the west of Zhangjiagang City, 11 kilometers away from the urban area. The territory of water network interweaved, Zhang Yang highway, Yang Zhang Cheng highway transit. In 1957, Houcheng township was built, and then the commune was changed. In 1983, the township was changed, and in 1986, the town was changed. In 1997, it covers an area of 30 square kilometers and has a population of 43000. It has jurisdiction over 16 village committees in zhujiadang, Gaoqiao, Zhujiaqiao, Xincheng, Yaobang, xiaojiazhuang, caochangxiang, lijiagang, LongQian, SANJIAOTAN, taoyandai, Xuetian, shanzhengqiao, Fengzhuang, Chengbei and Chengguan, and 3 neighborhood committees in Houcheng.
Appendix 3: Zhongxing town is located in the northwest of Zhangjiagang City, adjacent to the Yangtze River in the north, 15 kilometers away from the urban area. Zhongxing township was set up in 1957 and then changed into commune. It was restored to township in 1983. In 1986, it merged three townships of Zhongxing, Nansha and Shuangshan to build gangang town. In 1988, Zhongxing township was restored and the town was changed in 1993. In 1997, it covers an area of 16 square kilometers and has a population of 19000. It governs five village committees, namely Gaodong, Dade, Shanzheng, Zhongwei and sanjieqiao, and four neighborhood committees, namely the first to the fourth in Zhongxing. Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone is built in the territory.
Annex 4: Nansha Town is located in the west of Zhangjiagang City, bordering on the Yangtze River in the northwest, 14 kilometers away from the urban area. Nansha township was established in 1957 and then changed into a commune. It was restored to a township in 1983. In 1986, it was withdrawn and merged into gangang town. In 1988, it was restored to Nansha Township and in 1990, it was changed into a town. In 1997, with an area of 23 square kilometers and a population of 31000, it has jurisdiction over 14 village committees in Changshan, Gaofeng, Chaoyang, Shanbei, Zhenshan, Maqiao, Gangshang, Berlin, Sansheng, Dongshan, Gangxi, Qingqiao, Zhanwen and Xiangshan, and 2 neighborhood committees in Nansha. There are many places of interest in Xiangshan mountain.
Appendix 5: Shuangshan town is located in the northwest of Zhangjiagang City. It is a small island in the middle of the Yangtze River, 18 kilometers away from the urban area. The town is surrounded by oases. There are passenger ships connecting with the south bank. In 1982, Shuangshan commune was set up by Zhongxing commune. In 1983, it was changed to township. In 1986, it merged three townships of Zhongxing, Nansha and Shuangshan to build gangang town. In 1988, Shuangshan township was restored and in 1993, it was changed to township. In 1997, it covers an area of 16 square kilometers and has a population of 10000. It has jurisdiction over six village committees: Dukou, shuangzhong, Bawei, laowei, Xinwei and Shuangbei. There is a monument to the martyrs of the cross river campaign.
