Shaji town is located in the east of Suining County, Xuzhou City, with a long history, four distinct seasons and pleasant climate. The annual average temperature is about 14 ℃, the annual rainfall is about 800mm, and the frost free period is 210 days. With a total area of 65.18 square kilometers (2017), it has jurisdiction over 17 administrative villages, 264 villager groups and 59885 people (2017). The built-up area of the town is 8 square kilometers, with 19800 urban residents. It is located in Suqian in the East, Xuzhou in the west, Anhui in the South and Shandong in the north. It is the "national key central town" and the central area of Xuzhou Lianyungang Economic Belt.

In October 2019, Shaji town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

It is 100 km from Xuzhou, 40 km from Guanyin Airport in the West and 18 km from Suqian City in the East. Nanjing Suzhou Xuzhou expressway, 324 provincial highway, Xuhong River and xusha river run through the territory. Shaji pumping station and No.1 and No.2 ship locks, the North Jiangsu water conservancy project, are located on Xuhong River and xusha River in the town respectively. The third-class channel of Xuhong River leads directly to Hongze Lake and Grand Canal. The entrance of expressway is 200m away from the town. Expressway, Xuzhou railway network, xuhonghe waterway and Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport constitute the three-dimensional traffic pattern of water, land and air. They are the gateway of Xuzhou connecting coastal cities and counties, and are known as the east bridgehead of Xuzhou and the Pearl of Xuhong river.

Shaji town is low and flat, 9 km north of the abandoned Yellow River fault zone, which is a typical impact plain. Historical evolution

In Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to shajiaji, Lingcheng temple village, Gaojing township. During the period of the Republic of China, SISU county was in the southeast and Siling County in the northwest. In 1949, Shaji district was divided into eight small townships: Heping, Luyuan, Shanghu, Xingguo, Beiping, Baimiao, Renguan and Hongyi. Among them, Beiping, Baimiao, Renguan and Hongyi belong to Lingcheng District, while Heping, Luyuan, Shanghu and Xingguo belong to gaozuo district. In July 1952, Shaji district was set up, with jurisdiction over Heping, Luyuan, Shanghu, Xingguo, Beiping, Renguan (part), Baimiao and Hongyi (part). From February 1956 to August 1957, Shaji district was abolished and Shaji township was set up, belonging to Lingcheng, with jurisdiction over Baimiao, Beiping and the northern half of Renguan township. In September 1957, the county's district level political power was abolished and Shaji township was established, with 15 brigades under its jurisdiction. In September 1958, it was changed into a people's commune, and in 1975 it was changed into 20 brigades. In 1978, it increased to 21 brigades. In July 1983, the township system was restored, and the brigade was changed into villages, which were divided into 28 villages (Shaji village, Wangwei village, Xingguo village, Luyuan village, Caiwu village, Weiji village, Heping Village, Nongke village, Xiaozhu village, Wangkou village, Xiawei village, Dingchen village, Yangwa village, Xiaowan village, cailou village, Dagu village, Tongwei village, Liyuan Village, sanding village, siding village, Yuwei village, Xiazhuang village, Shawei village, Zhumiao Village) Baimiao village, Sunzhuang village, Shanghu village, Yangzhuang Village).
