Sheshan town
Located in the northwest of Songjiang District, Sheshan town is bounded by Qingpu District in the north, she Tiankun highway Chenhua highway in the south, Jiasong highway in the East, dayinggang in the West and Songjiang University Town in the East. It is 35km from the center of Shanghai and 18km from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.
In 2017, Sheshan town covers an area of 66.31 square kilometers, with 13 administrative villages, 2 neighborhood committees and a population of 72961. It is the largest town in Songjiang District. Sheshan National Tourist Resort, the only national tourist resort in Shanghai, is located in Songjiang, one of the key development areas of "one city, three areas".
In 2014, the added value of Sheshan town was 3.879 billion yuan, including 28 million yuan in the primary industry, 2.2 billion yuan in the secondary industry and 1.65 billion yuan in the tertiary industry. The annual total revenue was 1.255 billion yuan; local revenue was 360 million yuan; the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 20000 yuan; the total output value of industry and agriculture was 10.36 billion yuan, including 10.26 billion yuan of industrial output value and 100 million yuan of agricultural output value.
History of construction
In 751, Huating county was established in the south of Kunshan County, the east of Jiaxing county and the north of Haiyan County.
In 1277, Huating county was promoted to Huating Prefecture. The next year, it was renamed "Songjiangfu".
In 1542, Qingpu County was built in the north of Huating and Shanghai counties. Sheshan area belongs to 38 Bao Village, Jixian Township, Qingpu County, Songjiang Prefecture.
In 1656, part of Fengjing and Xupu townships and Jixian, Huating, Xinjing and Xiuzhu townships in Huating county were built into Lou County, and Tianma area was divided into Lou county.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Songjiang Prefecture was abolished and Huating and Lou counties were merged into Huating county. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it was renamed "Songjiang County". Sheshan area belongs to Qingpu County, and Tianma area belongs to Songjiang County.
In 1929, Sheshan belonged to Beifeng district and chenshe District of Qingpu County.
In 1935, Sheshan was the eighth District of Qingpu County.
In February 1948, Sheshan area belonged to Sheshan Township and Ganshan township of Qingpu County.
On May 14, 1949, after the liberation of Qingpu, Sheshan district set up Sheshan office and Ganshan office.
In October 1949, eight districts were set up in Qingpu County, and Sheshan district belongs to Shegan district.
In December 1954, Sheshan town was divided into Songjiang County and Sheshan district was established.
In January 1955, Tianma township was established.
In May 1955, Chenfang Township, Yushan Township, Chenshan Township, and Ganfeng Township in Shegan district were incorporated into Songjiang County, Tianma Township, Xinzhen Township, and Hengshan township to form Sheshan district.
In August 1957, Yushan Township and Tianma Township were established.
In September 1958, Sheshan people's Commune and Tianma people's commune were established. On October 18, Tianma people's commune was renamed "heroic people's commune". In March 1959, it was renamed "Tianma people's commune".
In March 1978, Tianma commune established Kungang commune.
In April 1984, Sheshan and Tianma communes were transformed into Sheshan Township People's government and Tianma Township People's government respectively.
In June 1986, the township was removed to build a town, and the people's Government of Sheshan town was established to implement the system of town governing village.
In April 1994, the people's Government of Tianmashan town was established.
In January 2001, with the approval of Shanghai Municipal People's government, Sheshan and Tianmashan towns merged to form a new Sheshan Town People's government.

Sheshan town is located in the eastern edge of the Yangtze River Delta, a subtropical seasonal humid climate, four distinct seasons, sufficient sunshine, mild climate, abundant rainfall, long frost free period. The monsoon circulation is the main factor controlling the climate in Sheshan area. In winter, the northwest wind prevails, which is attacked by the strong cold air in the north, mainly with less rain and cold weather; in summer, the southeast wind prevails, which is controlled by the wind from the sea, and the weather is hot and rainy; in spring and autumn, the winter summer monsoon alternates, often forming unstable weather such as cold, warm, dry and wet.

In 1952, Chenfang, Ganfeng, Chenshan and Sheshan townships in Shegan district had 3402.86 hectares of arable land. In 1957, Sheshan district had 6023.66 hectares of arable land. In 1958, there were 3457 hectares of cultivated land in Sheshan commune and 3915.4 hectares in Tianma commune. Since then, the cultivated land area has gradually decreased due to the change of jurisdiction and construction land. In 2002, Sheshan town had 2225.13 hectares of arable land. In 2006, there were 1870.4 hectares.
Mineral resources
Sheshan, Tianma and other mountains cover an area of 190 hectares, all of which are stone mines. In 1902, Xiaohengshan was first mined. Since then, Tianmashan, Fenghuangshan, Xueshan, Sheshan, Luoshan, Chenshan and other stone mines have been mined successively. By 1930, the annual output of various stone materials was more than 200000 tons. After liberation, the annual mining volume of six stone mines such as Sheshan increased year by year. In 1997, the mining volume was more than 480000 tons. In 2000, in order to protect the natural resources of the mountains in Shanghai, the municipal government stopped issuing mining licenses, and the stone mines were closed one after another. After nearly a century of mining, Xiaohengshan, Lushan and xiaosheshan have become pits 60-70 meters deep, and only half of Chenshan remains. From 1950 to 2000, the total amount of quarrying was 15.36 million tons. The total area of quarrying was 22 hectares, and the area of deep pit was 13.61 hectares.
Forest resources
Sheshan, Fenghuangshan, Tianmashan and other mountain tops cover an area of 401 hectares. Before liberation, except for the eastern and Western Sheshan, most of them were deserted. In 1955, it began to close Hillsides for afforestation, planting Pinus thunbergii, Robinia pseudoacacia, Quercus alba, Ligustrum lucidum, Cinnamomum camphora, and tung tree. By the 1980s, the mountains had been covered with green all the year round, forming secondary evergreen deciduous and broad-leaved mixed forests, and the forest volume and coverage rate of each mountain had increased. In 1994, there were 188.42 hectares of mixed forest, 72.9 hectares of bamboo forest, 458000 Phyllostachys pubescens and 12800 scattered trees. In 2006, there were 338.41 hectares of forest land, 181.01 hectares of forest land, 81.46 hectares of bamboo forest, 561000 moso bamboo trees and 8658 scattered trees (including 100 ancient and famous trees).
