Shanghewan Town, belonging to Jiutai District, Changchun City, Jilin Province, is located in the northeast of Jiutai district. It faces fate town of Shulan city across the river in the East, Tamu town and Chengzijie town in the south, Wutai township of Dehui City in the West and Chaoyang town and Wutai township of Dehui City in the north. It is 49 kilometers away from the government of Jiutai District, with a total area of 250.64 square kilometers.
In 1949, shanghewan district was set up in shanghewan town; in 1984, shanghewan commune was changed into shanghewan town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population in upper river bay town was 51875. As of June 2020, shanghewan town has one community and 22 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the town people's government is located in shanghewan village.
In 2018, there were 45 industrial enterprises in shanghewan Town, including 2 above scale enterprises and 101 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters. In July 2019, shanghewan town was selected into the list of national strong agricultural towns in 2019.
History of construction
In 1949, shanghewan district was established.
In 1956, shanghewan district was changed to Hewan township.
In September 1958, shanghewan township was changed into shanghewan commune.
In 1984, shanghewan commune was transformed into shanghewan town.
In January 2001, Santai township was merged into shanghewan town.
