In April 1954, the residents committee of Gebu street was changed to Gebu street. In June 1960, the front and back streets were merged into Gebu commune. In March 1999, Gebu street and Gebu Xincun street were assigned to Shuncheng district. As of June 2020, Gebu street has jurisdiction over 13 communities, and its sub district office is located at 63 Gebu East Street.

Historical evolution
In April 1953, Gebu street public office (south of the railway) and Gebu village government (north of the railway) were merged into Weijie neighborhood committee, belonging to Xinfu District.
In April 1954, the residents committee of Gebu street was changed to Gebu street.
In October 1956, Gebu street was classified as Hebei District; in November of the same year, Gebu street was divided into front and back streets.
In 1957, the former Gebu Street set up 11 residents' committees, and the latter Gebu Street set up 7 residents' committees.
In May 1959, Hebei District was abolished, and Gebu 2 street was restored to Xinfu District.
In June 1960, the front and back streets were merged into Gebu commune.
In June 1968, the Daqing commune reform committee was established, under which there were six second level reform committees.
In September 1978, Daqing commune was changed into Gebu street.
In January 1986, seven neighborhood committees to the north of the railway established gebuxincun street, and the remaining 15 were still owned by gebuxincun street.
