Laoniuwan Town, yuandantaizi Township, Qingshuihe County, is located 58 kilometers southwest of Qingshuihe County, with a total area of 309.85 square kilometers. It governs 12 administrative villages and has a permanent resident population of 4432 (2017). It is rich in mineral tourism resources, and its economy is mainly agriculture.

Laoniuwan Town, formerly Taizi Township, is located 58 kilometers southwest of Qingshuihe County, adjacent to Beibao Township in the East, YAOGOU Township and Chengguan town in the north, Wanjiazhai of Shanxi Province in the south, bounded by the Great Wall, and Zhungeer banner of Ordos City across the Yellow River in the southwest. With a total area of 309.85 square kilometers, the township governs 12 administrative villages and 110 natural villages, with a total of 3565 households and 4432 people (2017). The total cultivated area of the township is 90152 mu. It has rolling hills and gullies with an average annual temperature of 8.5 ℃ and a frost free period of 142 days. The 109 National Highway and Rongwu Expressway crisscross the territory, and the Huanghe highway and laoniuwan tourism special line are waiting to be built. At present, seven village committees have been connected to the rural cement roads. Next year, after the completion of the tourism special line, three village committees can be connected. The remaining two village committees need to solve the rural cement roads.
The main mineral resources in the territory are limestone and dolomite with high grade. The dolomite in dashugou mountain has a high magnesium content of 22%, with large reserves and great mining value. In particular, the territory is rich in tourism resources, mainly famous for laoniuwan Yellow River Grand Canyon, Ming Great Wall, ancient pagodas and ancient temples. There are 173958 mu of forest land (including 10185 mu of economic forest), 64409 mu of grassland, 144517 mu of grassland and 112791 mu of barren hills, ditches and beaches. The main family income of farmers is mainly from planting and breeding. In 2012, the per capita net income of the township was 5500 yuan. The main crops are corn, potato, millet, millet, beans and other minor cereals. Among the agricultural and sideline products, xiaoxiangmi, Haihongguo and rice vinegar are well-known both inside and outside the region. Livestock mainly include donkeys, mules, cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. By the end of June 2012, the total number of livestock in the township was 42000, including 38000 mutton sheep. All villages in the township are electrified, but the vast majority of villages are in urgent need of rectification. At present, there are 6 villages with tap water and 7 villages with main pipeline, but they have not entered the household.
Dantaizi township was merged with the original huashuye Township in 2001, and was assigned to YAOGOU Township in 2006. In August 2012, the system of dantaizi township was restored. There are 38 cadres and workers in the township government, including 30 formal staff and 8 temporary staff. There are 15 retirees and retirees. The township has 13 party branches, 4 village branches and 408 party members, including 28 cadres.
Historical evolution
Dantaizi commune was established in 1961 and changed to township in 1984. In 1996, it covers an area of 154 square kilometers and has a population of 7000. It governs seven administrative villages, namely, changzuiliang, shihuliang, shiziliang, yingpanmao, dachailiang, dantaizi and funmaoliang. In 2001, huashuye township was abolished and merged into dantaizi township. In 2002, it has jurisdiction over 14 administrative villages including yingpanmao, funmaoliang, shiziliang, dantaizi, shihuliang, changzuiliang, dachailiang, houyangta, zhengmaoliang, Santaizi, xujialiang, zhongzuiliang, yangya and xiaoyangta. In 2006, shantaizi township was abolished and merged into YAOGOU township. In 2012, shantaizi township was restored. The original huashuye township is under the jurisdiction of Qingshuihe County, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Located in the southwest of the county, shandagou deep, 28 kilometers away from the county. Huashuye commune was established in 1962 and changed to township in 1984. In 1996, it covers an area of 114 square kilometers and has a population of 5000. It governs seven administrative villages, namely xiaoyangta, yangya, zhongzuiliang, Santaizi, xujialiang, zhengmaogou and houyangta. In 2001, it was withdrawn and merged into shantaizi township. in October 2014, Qingshuihe County Government, through the municipal government, applied to the regional government to cancel the establishment of laoniuwan town in shantaizi township. On May 27, 2015, the government of the autonomous region officially approved the cancellation of dantaizi Township and the establishment of laoniuwan town. On October 13, Qingshuihe County abolished the establishment of dantaizi Township, and the unveiling ceremony of laoniuwan town was held in dantaizi Township, marking the formal establishment of laoniuwan town.

Tourism cultural resources
Wanjiazhai Reservoir is located in the south of dantaizi Township, Qingshuihe County. After the completion of Wanjiazhai Reservoir, the high gorge comes out of the Pinghu Lake. Many sections of the lake here have steep cliffs. The curved surface of the lake is like a green ribbon. The beautiful scenery of the lake and the mountains is comparable to that of the small Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. In the reservoir area, you can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains, but also appreciate the local conditions and customs with rich cultural heritage of the Yellow River, as well as the magnificent style of the great wall and beacon towers of the Ming Dynasty. Laoniuwan, located at the southernmost end of dantaizi Township, Qingshuihe County, Inner Mongolia, faces lougedan, Wanjiazhai Township, piantouguan County, Shanxi Province, across yangjiachuan, and weijiamao Township, Zhungeer banner, across the Yellow River. It is the first intersection of the Yellow River and the Great Wall. It has the famous scenery of the Grand Canyon of the Yellow River, including "Yanwangbizi", "sheshenya", "shengshenglou", "laoniuwanbao" and "ancient stage of Qing Dynasty". In recent years, the ruins of the ancient "Xicha culture" have been excavated in dantaizi Township, including the ancient temple "shanshentemple" with a history of more than 400 years, the ancient Mongolian Grottoes "qiaomendong", the "mouth" of the west entrance, the artificial dam ecological area "dashugou ecological area" and "laowanghe", all within a radius of about 10km.
