Democratic Town

Minzhu Town, belonging to Daowai District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, is located in the northeast of Daowai District, bordering Juyuan town in the East, Tuanjie town in the south, Harbin cement plant in the West and Ashe River in the north. The area is 132 square kilometers (2018).

In 2019, Democratic Town will have 10 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. In 2018, the population of the registered residence in the Democratic Town was 30164.

Historical evolution

The first year of Xuantong (1909), belongs to binxiu District of Acheng county.

In 1946, it belonged to Fuchang District of Acheng county (later changed to the Sixth District of Acheng county).

In June 1953, it was assigned to Harbin City, under the newly established Tianheng district.

In March 1956, villages and townships were merged and democratic townships were set up. In the same year, it was transferred to Chaoyang District.

In the winter of 1958, it merged with Liansheng Township and Heping township to form Dongfeng people's commune, which is subordinate to Taiping District.

In the autumn of 1961, Dongfeng commune was set up as a democratic commune.

In March 1963, it was assigned to Binjiang District.

In 1972, Binjiang District was abolished as Taiping District.

In November 1983, democratic township was restored.

On March 24, 2004, Daowai District was merged with Taiping District. The new district was named Daowai District, and Minzhu township was named Daowai District.

In February 2013, the township was removed to build a town.

In 2019, Minfu town governs 10 administrative villages: Minfu village, Shengli village, Qingfeng Village, Guangming Village, Minzhu village, Xinguo village, Wuxing village, Xinfa village, Youyi village and Xinli village.
