Xinmin Town

Xinmin Town of Xindu District is located in the northwest of Xindu District, the hinterland of Chengdu Plain. It is 15km away from Chengdu City in the south, 10km away from Xindu city in the southeast, Pengzhou City in the north, Qingliu town across Qingbaijiang River in the northwest, Xinfan town and banzhuyuan town in the southwest, juntun town and Majia town in the southeast. The town is about 8.8 km long from east to west and 4.1 km wide from north to south, slightly butterfly shaped. The town is flat and fertile. Qingbaijiang river runs through the town from west to East for 11.74 kilometers. Chengde Avenue and Xindu Xinfan highway run through the town. The town covers an area of 36.3 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 7 villages and 4 communities. The total population is 38010 (2017). By the end of 2019, Xinmin Town will be abolished and merged into juntun town.

In December 2019, Chengdu City approved the request for instructions on the adjustment of administrative divisions of some towns (streets) in 15 districts (cities) and counties, including Longquanyi District, to cancel Xinmin Town and put its administrative area under the jurisdiction of juntun Town, where the people's Government of juntun town is stationed at 88 Jinfu road.
