Chicheng town is 30 kilometers southwest of Qingcheng county (formerly Qingyang), Qingyang City, Gansu Province. It is 6 kilometers wide from east to west and 16 kilometers long from north to south. It is adjacent to Gaolou Township in the East, xiongjiamiao office in the west, baimapu town in the north and Hepan Township in Heshui County in the south, with a total area of 99.61 square meters. It has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages and 61 natural villages, with a total population of 15989 (2017) and a cultivated area of 43100 mu. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, showing the distribution of residual tableland gullies. The tableland surface is fragmented, the Sichuan tableland is narrow and small, and the gullies are vertical and horizontal, with an average altitude of 1268 meters.

The folk arts and crafts factory of Chicheng Township Cultural Center, founded in April 1986, has assets of 400000 yuan, including fixed assets of 240000 yuan. It is a cultural enterprise focusing on the production and sales of Qingyang traditional cultural products sachets. The main products are traditional folk arts and crafts, tourism products, decorations, practical goods, hemp embroidery, a total of 5 categories of more than 240 varieties. Among them, 7 kinds of products have won the national, provincial and municipal quality product awards respectively. They are sold in 34 foreign-related hotels, star hotels and tourism departments. On December 8, 2003, the Civil Affairs Department of Gansu Province issued the reply on the adjustment of township administrative divisions in Pingliang City (No. 49 of ganmin District), and pingzhengfa No. 180 document: the township of Chicheng was abolished, and six villages of Xiliu, prime minister, Yang'an, Chicheng, Zhouzhai and Huangzhuang were assigned to Xinyao town; two villages of Gaonian and Shuimo were assigned to Huanghua township. At the same time, the new town government after the merger moved from Xinyao village to the former Chicheng township government.
