Longwan town is located in the west of Luoding City, bordering Silun town in the East, jiejie town in the south, Xinyi City in the West and Jiayi town in the north. Longwan town covers a total area of 126.4 square kilometers. Provincial highway S352 runs through the whole area of Longwan town, 53 kilometers away from Luoding city. It has jurisdiction over 11 village committees, 1 neighborhood committee and 197 Village (neighborhood) groups. By the end of 2018, there were 8912 households in Longwan town, with a total population of 35864, mainly Han nationality.

Historical evolution
Longwan town, formerly known as Fuhe Town, was located in Zhennan county from Tang Dynasty to five dynasties. In 973, Zhennan was under the jurisdiction of Longshui county. From 1577 to the end of Qing Dynasty, it belonged to zhennandu of Xining county. In 1914, Xining county changed its name to Yunan County, and Fuhe belonged to the 12th district of the county.
In 1948, the 12th district was renamed Zhennan township. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Zhennan township was transferred to the seventh district of Yunan County in April 1950. In January 1957, it was under the jurisdiction of Luoding county. In 1958, it belonged to Jiayi commune. In June 1961, it was separated from Jiayi commune and set up Fuhe commune and Qishan commune.
In October 1963, it was merged into Fuhe commune. In 1983, the commune was abolished to establish Fuhe district. In November 1986, the district was removed to establish Fuhe township. In December 1992, the township was removed to establish Fuhe town. It was renamed Longwan town on November 12, 2005.
