Qitai town
Qitai Town, belonging to Qitai County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the southeast of the county, adjacent to Gucheng Township in the East and south, and xibeiwan Township in the West and North. The area is 33 square kilometers. In 2018, 42924 people registered residence.
In March 1950, it was a district. In 1953, it was changed into Qitai city. In 1956, it was changed into a town. In 1958, it was a town commune. In 1961, the town system was restored. In October 2019, Qitai town has 19 communities under its jurisdiction.
In 2018, there were 169 industrial enterprises in Qitai Town, 22 Industrial Enterprises above Designated Size, and 105 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

The annual average temperature is 5.5 ℃; the average temperature in January is - 17 ℃; the extreme minimum temperature is - 42.6 ℃ (December 1, 1951); the average temperature in July is 22.9 ℃; the extreme maximum temperature is 41.2 ℃ (July 31, 2006).

The main natural disaster in Qitai town is flood. The most serious one occurred in July 2006, which caused floods due to continuous rainfall, resulting in direct economic losses of more than 2.5 million yuan in the whole town.

The total population is mainly Han nationality (50207, 76.1%); there are 21 ethnic minorities, including Uygur, Hui, Kazak, Manchu, Uzbek, Mongolia, Tatar, Russia, with a total population of 15800, accounting for 23.9%, and the population density is 4400 per square kilometer.
