The former Wangtao township is located in the northwest of Qinyuan County, Shanxi Province, adjacent to chishiqiao Township in the East, congziyu Township in the south, Jiexiu City in the West and Wanghe town in the north. The total area of the township is 293.4 square kilometers, including 28300 mu of cultivated land and 52000 mu of forest land. The township has 28 administrative villages, 37 natural villages and 11537 permanent residents (2017). There are 27 industrial enterprises in total.

History of construction

After the founding of new China in 1949, Wang Tao became the Fifth District Office of Qinyuan county. in 1956, the rural system was implemented, and the former Fifth District Office was changed into a township office. Under the jurisdiction of doubi, Baicao and other 15 natural villages. In 1958, the people's commune was implemented, and Wangtao township was changed into Wangtao people's commune, which is one of the top ten communes in the county. In April 1971, Wangtao township was again under the jurisdiction of Jiexiu in Jinzhong; in March 1972, it was again divided into Qinyuan County; in 1984, the commune was abolished and changed into Wangtao township. It has jurisdiction over 20 village committees of Wangtao, Xiabi, Renjiazhuang, shaping, Baicao, Songluo, hulugou, doubi, niulanggou, mafenggou, chengaizhuang, xiachengai, shangchengai, yizegou, Yihe, Yangfeng, wangtou, huangduan, beidaozhuang and Dayu village. In 2001, Huapo township was merged into Wangtao Township, which has 28 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. in 2019, the township will be set up.
