Gaoshawo town is located in the east of Ningxia, adjacent to Dingbian County of Shaanxi Province in the East, Huanxian County of Gansu Province in the south, and Etuokeqian banner of Inner Mongolia in the north. It has been known as "Lingxia elbow armpit, Huanqing throat" since ancient times. It has jurisdiction over 4 townships and 15 administrative villages, with a total population of 22000, and more than 1000 ethnic minorities, mainly Hui people. There are 580000 mu of cultivated land, 11 mu per capita, including 90700 mu of irrigated land. The forest reserve area is 1.2 million mu, and the desertification area has decreased from 1.38 million mu in 1983 to 895000 Mu now.

Gaoshawo township is located in the northwest of Yanchi County, 42 kilometers away from the county. Yejun road passes through. In 1949, it belonged to the District of ergaoshawo town. In 1958, it was changed into Gaoshawo commune, and in 1984, it was established as a township. In 1997, it covers an area of 710 square kilometers and has a population of 9000. It governs eight administrative villages, namely Gaoshawo, Nanliang, changliudun, shijiquan, Baota, Yingxi, erbukeng and dageta.
Su BUJING Township
Subujing township is located in the north of Yanchi County, 42 kilometers away from the county. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of two districts, Gaoshawo commune in 1958, subujing commune in 1976 and township in 1984. In 1997, it covers an area of 367 square kilometers and has a population of 7000. It has jurisdiction over six administrative villages, namely, subujing, gaoliwusu, lihuatai, Jijigou, yingyingbao and xiaochizi. In 2003, gaoliwusu village was abolished and transferred to the newly established huamachi Town, and the rest was incorporated into the newly established Gaoshawo town.

Gaoshawo belongs to the transitional zone of Eurasian steppe, Central Asia and central China. There are 331 species of seed plants, belonging to 57 families and 221 genera, including 231 species of wild wanwei 48 families and 100 species of cultivated plants 28 families. There are 46 species of Gramineae (13.9%), 39 species of Compositae (11.8%), 36 species of Leguminosae (10.9%) and 24 species of Chenopodiaceae (7.3%). 145 species of the above 4 families, accounting for 43.8% of the total plants. The vegetation is sparse, mainly including Stipa grandis, Miscanthus elongatus, Agropyron cristatus, Medicago sativa, Lespedeza frutescens, weilingcai, Artemisia annua, Artemisia ordosica, Cleistogenes scabra, altaigouwa, thrush grass, etc. The shady slope is wet with more xerophytes, and the vegetation coverage is about 60%; the sunny slope is dry, and the vegetation coverage is about 40%. The average coverage of this kind of grassland is 45%, and the annual average yield of fresh grass per mu is 100kg, of which 64K can be used. It belongs to the second, third, sixth and seventh grade grassland, with medium productivity, about 14.2 mu, and can raise one sheep. desert steppe grassland is mainly distributed in the northern part of the North-South watershed steppe line, and the soil is mainly calcareous soil. It covers an area of 2.432 million mu, accounting for 35.3% of the grassland area of the county. The main plants are Miscanthus elongatus, Stipa breviflora, wheat seedling, Leymus chinensis, cryptospermum, Baicao, niuzhizi, maotouci, maoerci, Oxytropis glabra, Melilotus, astragalus, Sophora alopecuroides, Convolvulus alba, weilingcai, Setaria viridis, Chongshi, little thrush grass, etc. Due to random cultivation and excavation, most grasslands are seriously desertified, with a height of 10-20cm and a coverage of 35% - 50%. The average coverage of grassland is 50%, some as high as 60%. The average yield of xiacao per mu is 110kg, in which 58kg fresh grass can be used. It belongs to grade 3, 4, 6 and 7 grassland. About 15.7 mu can breed one sheep. sandy vegetation grassland is the main part of grassland in Yanchi County, mainly distributed in the flat sand on the gentle slope of northern Ordos, fixed and mobile sand dunes, and the soil is mainly calcareous soil. It covers an area of 2.574 million mu, accounting for 37.3% of the total grassland area. The main plants are Artemisia sphaerocephala, Sophora alopecuroides, Glycyrrhiza uralensis and white grass. The height of grass layer is more than 20cm, and the coverage is 30% ~ 40%. The average yield of fresh grass per mu is 140kg, of which 71kg can be used. It belongs to grade 3, medium grade 5, 6, 7 and 8 grassland, about 12.9 mu, maintaining 1 sheep.
