Lenghu town
Lenghu town is located in Mangya City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, China. It is named after Hutong Nuoer Lake (Mongolian: extremely cold lake) and is one of the important mining areas in China.
Lenghu is located in the border area of Qinghai, Xinjiang and Gansu, and in the northwest edge of Qaidam Basin. It is adjacent to Dachaidan Administrative Region in the East, Aksai Kazakh Autonomous County in Gansu Province in the north, and Ruoqiang County in Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang in the northwest, with a total area of 18000 square kilometers and a population of 24000 (2007).
Evolution of organizational system
Lenghu used to be a no man's land, originally under the jurisdiction of Dulan county. It began construction after the discovery of oil in 1954, and set up Lenghu office directly under the central government of Qaidam Administrative Committee in 1957. Qinghai Petroleum Administration Bureau moved to Lenghu in 1959. In 1959, Lenghu City Working Committee (county-level administrative region) was established. In 1960, Lenghu city was established. In 1964, it was demoted to a town. Mahai area was under the leadership of Lenghu town and directly under the jurisdiction of Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. In 1992, he was promoted to the Executive Council. In 1993, Lenghu town was restored.

Lenghu town is located in the Gobi desert in the north of Qinghai Province and the south of Altun mountain. It is located in the northern margin of Qaidam Basin, with an average altitude of 2733 meters.
