Institute of Plateau Biology
Tibet Institute of Plateau Biology, established in 1979, is located in Beijing Middle Road, Lhasa.
brief introduction
In 1979, the science and Technology Commission of the Tibet Autonomous Region established the plateau biology research laboratory, and in 1981, the Tibet Plateau Biology Research Institute was established on the basis of the laboratory. The Institute consists of five laboratories of plant, animal, insect, phytochemistry and tissue culture, three laboratories of phytochemistry, tissue culture and supercritical fluid extraction, and three herbarium of plant, animal and insect. There are 19 professionals, including 4 with senior titles and 12 with intermediate titles.
Honorary achievements
Since its establishment in 1981, the Institute has published academic works such as the list of plants in Tibet, economic plants in Tibet, large economic fungi in Tibet and vascular plants in Namjagbarwa. Among them, economic plants in Tibet and large economic fungi in Tibet have won the second prize of the autonomous region. The Research Institute's scientific and technological project "investigation of wildlife ecology in Qiangtang plateau" won the first prize of science and technology progress of the autonomous region, and the basic research of Rhodiola and the research of wintering number and ecology of black necked Crane won the second prize of science and technology progress of the autonomous region. A number of new species of plants have been found during the investigation of plant resources. Tibet Plateau Institute of biology has undertaken the research and development of Rhodiola, a national Spark project. From 1990 to 1993, he studied the endemic genera of seed plants in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau and its adjacent areas, and won the third prize for scientific and technological progress of the autonomous region. From 1993 to 1995, he carried out the research on the protection and development of the endangered medicinal plant Coptis chinensis and the ecological protection of Rhodiola in Tibet. In 1995, he won the second prize for scientific and technological progress of the autonomous region. From 1995 to 1997, he carried out the research on biodiversity and its protection and utilization in the Himalayan region of China, and won the third prize of science and technology progress of the autonomous region. From 1998 to 2000, typical vegetation restoration experiments were carried out in Lhasa River Basin. Also winning the third prize of science and technology progress of the autonomous region are experimental research on saffron cultivation, research on chemical constituents of Saussurea involucrata, research on sheep's broomcorn disease, etc. The Institute has sent 20 people to many countries and regions for academic investigation, visit, further study and academic conferences, and has established international cooperative relations with Japan, the United States, Germany and other countries and regions.
