Five Buddha Village
Wufo Township, a township under the jurisdiction of Jingtai County, Baiyin City, Gansu Province, is located in the northeast of Jingtai County, facing fayibao and Damiao of Jingyuan County across the Yellow River in the southeast, Luyang town in the southwest, Yishan Town, Caowotan town and Yishan town enclave in the west, shangshawo town in the north and Cuiliu village in Caowotan town enclave in the northeast. The total administrative area is 583 square kilometers.
In 1730, it was under the jurisdiction of Jingyuan County; in 1984, it was changed into Wufo township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of the five Buddha township was 14948. In June 2020, the five Buddha village governs six administrative villages.
Animal husbandry in Wufo township is mainly to raise pigs, sheep and poultry. In 2018, Wufo township has 3 industrial enterprises and 18 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
History of construction
In 1730, it was under the jurisdiction of Jingyuan County.
In 1933, Jingtai County was established as the Second District, also known as the five Buddha district.
In 1942, it was changed to Qianfo township.
In 1949, Wufo was the Third District Office of Jingtai County.
In 1950, it was changed into a district office.
In 1955, it was changed into Linhe district.
In 1958, it was changed into the Yellow River commune.
In 1959, it was changed into five Buddha commune.
In April 1968, it was renamed Xiangyang commune.
In 1971, it was renamed Wufo commune.
In 1984, it was changed into Wufo township.

Wufoyan temple was formerly known as Wufosi, also known as qianfosi. Built in the Northern Wei Dynasty, it is located on the edge of the Yellow River, 1km southwest of Xingshui village, Wufo township. Sitting in the west to the East, facing the river on the back of the mountain, it gets its name because there are five large Buddha statues and more than a thousand small Buddha statues in the grottoes.
